💜💪🏽Adding strength and core work in Parsvottanasana.

In Parsvottanasana or Single Leg Forward Bend in Yoga practice,
We normally focus on stretching the back of front leg (hamstring or hip extensor) and back of the body.

In another hand, when we think of the function anatomy.

If the back is lengthening or stretching the front is contracting or shortening... our body is working both way eventhough we are focusing on one point.

In this case of Parsvottanasana, if we think of shortening or contracting the front (opposite muscles) we can add the strength work by bringing hands behind the front leg and shift the weight to hands or fingers and bend the knee of back leg... it will add strength and core work to the abdominal.

💦💜Let's clean energy channel with...
Simple breathing techniques that will help you to

🔅tap into Parasympathetic nervous system
🔅calm the mind
🔅reduce heart rate
🔅reduce stress and anxiety
🔅purify the subtle energy channels (nadis) of the body so the prana flows more easily
🔆synchronize the two hemispheres of the brain

This breathing technique is called
"Alternate Nostril Breathing"
Or
"Nadi Shodhana"
(nadi = energy channel,
Shodhana = cleansing)
..

🧘🏽‍♀️I like to guide this breathing at the beginning of Yin class, as it helps practitioners...
to disconnected with outer world and reconnect with themselves, and clear the energy channel and get ready to dig deeper into themselves in asana practice.

💦Cleansing energy channel when you have nose blocked👃

Last week I have posted how do Alternate Nostril Breathing to clean the energy channel, and a friend of mine inbox and said that it was very interested and she tried but couldn't make it as her nose was blocked...

So here it is ,
I hope this will help.
If the physical body doesn't allow you to do... then we have to work another way, play a little trick to the mind.

As we all are different and unique.
When we practice Asana, we modify according our physical ability.
As well as Pranayama, we also can do that too.

Verse 27 of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika states
'Matsyendrasana increases the appetite by fanning the gastric fire and destroys terrible diseases in the body ; when practiced it rouses Kundalini and makes the moon stady.'

It is said the the breath in the right nostril is hot and that in the left is cold.

Therefore the breath
☀️in the right nostril is called the sun breath and the right Nadi is referred to as Pingala
🌙And the left nostril is called the moon breath and the left Nadi is called Ida

The moon travelling in Ida sprinkles its nectar through the entire system.
And the sun travelling through Pingala dried out the whole system.

For the human body is regarded as a miniature universe.
It is said the the moon is locate at the roof of the palate, ever dropping cool ambrosia nectar that is wasted by feeding the gastric fire.
Matsyendrasana prevents this.
