Things are finally starting to catch up! While the gut brain connection has been well established, it’s great to see the ongoing research on this area being shared on mainstream tv! The gut is so important for so many different health complaints. This is the exact reason why I focus so much on gut health in my nutrition practice. The gut-brain connection is a two way street with an unhealthy gut affecting the brain and vice versa. Could your gut be affecting your health?

You may be thinking it's time for Spring Clean of Your Home but What about Your 💩Gut and Lymphatic System?

If you have been feeling a bit heavy and sluggish over the winter, spring is the perfect time to reset! 🌸

Some basic things you can start doing today to reset and support a healthier gut and lymphatic system are as follows:

🌟 Make it a priority to drink more water💦- dehydrated lymph fluid and gut tissues become stagnant with toxic waste not being able to move along leading to feeling heavy, constipated with fluid retention. Aim for a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.

🌟 Increase movement to get things moving- just 30mins a day e.g. just brisk walk can make all the difference. 🚶‍♀️

🌟 Increase 🥦fibre intake- a healthy diet rich in fibre ensures the body can efficiently eliminate waste and avoids the system to become overloaded.

🌟 Reduce your toxic load- spring clean your diet, your home, your bathroom cabinet and limit the amount of chemicals you are exposed to. This reduces the burden on the liver and lymphatic system and allows fluid to move freely.

🌟 Avoid Foods That Make You Feel Yuck! - Listen to your body. If you know that lactose, and/or indulging in processed foods make you feel yuck, don't just think she will be right.

🌟 Go Alcohol Free- alcohol is inflammatory increasing vessel permeability, leading to fluid buildup and slowing down proper drainage.

🌟 Breathe Deeply- deep diaphragmatic breathing 🧘‍♀️acts as a natural pump to the lymphatic system causing pressure changes that help move fluid through major vessels.

🌟 Get Sweaty- whether it's through aerobic cardio execises or sweating in a steam room/sauna, sweating supports lymphatic function. 🏃🏽‍♀️

🌟 Book a Lymphatic Massage- You can learn self-lymphatic massage techniques to do yourself, do daily dry body brushing and/or book a professional lymphatic massage.

Let's see how many of these you can tick off by the end of the week? 💪🙏

Oh yeah and if you would like to book a lymphatic massage, I have a few spots available later in the week. DM to snap up an appointment.

Happy Monday! 💟

🔥 Why are my clients choosing my infrared sauna over their local gym???

When I decided to introduce an infrared sauna to Nutritious Vitality, I knew I didn't want to simply add another service to my list.

I wanted to offer something that genuinely complemented the work I already do with my clients through nutrition, skin and massage — and something I could feel confident putting my name behind.

So, before investing, I spent hours researching infrared saunas.

I looked at safety, materials, EMF levels, infrared technology, heating efficiency and, most importantly, the overall quality of the sauna.

After all that research, Clearlight Infrared Saunas came out on top for me. 🌿

So, what made it stand out?

✔️ Lowest EMF technology of all saunas on market — independently third-party tested
🌲 High-quality, eco-certified timber with no toxic materials used throughout the sauna that could off gas when sauna is heated.
🌈 True Wave™ technology designed to deliver consistent infrared wavelengths
🔥 Full-spectrum infrared heating combining near, mid and far infrared wavelengths
❤️ Red light therapy option — allowing you to add another element to your wellness session

But here's the thing...

The sauna itself is only part of the experience.

💚 My clients tell me they love the experience I have created
around it.

Instead of sitting in a busy gym sauna with people coming and going, you have your own quiet, private and peaceful wellness space.

You don't need to worry about bringing towels or water — I've got that covered.

You can choose to:

🧘‍♀️ Relax with guided meditation
🎶 Listen to calming music
🎧 Connect via Bluetooth and listen to your favourite podcast or playlist
❤️ Enjoy red light therapy during your session — at no additional cost

And when you're finished?

🥥 A refreshing coconut water/electrolyte drink is waiting for you to help replenish fluids and electrolytes after sweating.

But perhaps my favourite part is how easily the sauna can be incorporated into your bigger health and wellness journey.

🌟 Pair it with your regular Massage or Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage
🌟 Combine it with your Nutrition Program
❤️ Add it to your wellness treatment
🌟 Or simply use it as dedicated time to slow down, relax and look after yourself.

Infrared sauna only available in my home based location in Seaford Meadows.

If you'd like to experience my infrared sauna for yourself, send me a message or get in touch to book your session.

👀 Have you looked at your p**p today?

Okay… maybe not the most glamorous conversation 😂

But your bowel movements can actually give you some really useful clues about what's happening in your digestive system.

💩 The bristol stool chart is a great graphic to use to help guide what a healthy normal stool should look like.

Ideally, we're generally looking for a Type 3–4 stool, with Type 4 often considered the classic "ideal" consistency — smooth, soft and easy to pass.

But what about the other types?

🌟 Types 1–2: Often associated with constipation and slower bowel transit.

🌟 Types 6–7: Usually indicate loose stools or diarrhoea and faster transit.

And here's the important part...

One unusual bowel movement doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.

What I'm much more interested in as a nutritionist is the pattern.

❓Are you regularly constipated?

❓Are you straining?

❓Do you feel like you haven't completely emptied?

❓Are you regularly experiencing loose stools?

❓Is bloating becoming your everyday normal?

These are all pieces of the bigger gut-health puzzle. 🌿

Your bowel movements can give us clues about things like gut motility, fibre intake, hydration and digestion — but they are just one part of the picture.

So, be honest...

👇 Which Bristol Stool Type are you most often?

And if your answer is "I don't know!" — perhaps it's time to start paying a little more attention. 😉

Your p**p isn't something to be embarrassed about.

It's information.

And sometimes, your body speaks through your bowels 💩 long before you realise something needs attention.

Hope that got you something to think about! 😉

Happy Wednesday!

Gut Transit Time...What is Yours & Could It Be a Contributing Factor to Your Bloating & Other Gut Symptoms?

Gut transit time is the time it takes for food to travel through your digestive system—from your first bite to your bowel movement.

While everyone is different, research suggests that a healthy gut transit time for many adults is around 24–48 hours, although a broader range can still be normal depending on the individual.

What's most important is the pattern: if transit is consistently very slow or very fast and you're experiencing symptoms, it's worth investigating.

👉 When transit time is too slow, waste stays in the colon longer, more water is absorbed, stools become harder, & constipation plus bloating are more likely.

👉 When transit time is too fast, your body may not have enough time to absorb nutrients & fluids effectively, which can contribute to diarrhoea & nutritional concerns.

The good news? Transit time can often be improved by addressing the underlying causes—whether that's diet, hydration, stress, physical activity, medications, hormones or your gut microbiome.

As a nutritionist, one of my goals is to uncover why your digestion isn't working as it should, so we can create a plan that's personalised to you—not just another quick fix.

❓Have you ever measured your gut transit time? 💩

Causes of Slow Gut Motility that May Be More Than Just Eating More Fibre..

💩Slow Gut Motility = When Your Digestion Just Isn’t Moving! 💩

Common Causes of Slow Gut Motility that you may have overlooked:

2️⃣Gut Inflammation & Dysbiosis- An imbalance in gut bacteria can affect stool consistency, motility and overall gut function.

2️⃣Dehydration and Low Electrolytes -Water helps soften stool and having the proper balance of electrolytes support smooth muscle contractions in the bowel.

3️⃣Hormone Imbalances- Progesterone dominance, thyroid dysfunction and blood sugar imbalance can all slow motility.

4️⃣Pelvic Floor Dysfunction- tight pelvic floor muscles can cause incomplete evacuation and chronic constipation.

5️⃣Poor Vagal Tone- the vagus nerve is part of the nervous system and is responsible for the process of rest and digest. If you are constantly stressed and anxious you may have poor vagal tone.

6️⃣Poor Bile Flow- Bile supports fat digestion, is needed to absorb nutrients and helps stimulate bowel movements. Sluggish bile = sluggish bowels.

If constipation and bloating have become your normal, it’s time to dig deeper!
