🔬 confused by skincare? we decode it.
🌿 simple skin + better ingredients
🧪 formulating natural + vegan skincare

+ honestly? good. 😂
somewhere along the way, good skincare became synonymous with more skincare.
more steps.
more serums.
more actives.
more products for problems you didn’t even know you had.
but the shift we’re seeing now is toward simpler, more intentional routines — fewer unnecessary layers, more attention to barrier health + products that actually have a reason to be there.
* i’m very here for it.
because i don’t actually care whether your routine has 3 products or 8.
i care whether you know why you’re using every one of them.
your skincare routine doesn’t need to be impressive.
it needs to make sense.
we talk about actives. peptides. acids. retinoids. the latest $200 serum.
meanwhile, your skin is over there like:
could i just have some bloody water please? 😂💦
hydration is one of the simplest things you can do for your skin.
a few things i do:
💦 mist my face when it feels dry — especially in air-conditioning or on flights
💦 apply moisturiser to slightly damp skin to help keep that water there
💦 choose formulas with humectants like glycerin that attract + hold water
💦 keep up my fluids because, well, the rest of my body would also quite like those
one of the best my skin has ever looked after a long-haul flight was when i carried a tiny spray bottle of water + kept misting my face throughout the flight.
nothing fancy. no miracle ingredient.
just water + not letting my skin become a raisin at 35,000 feet. 😂
sometimes good skincare really is that boring.
your moisturiser suddenly stings. your serum stings. even products you’ve used forever are starting to sting. 🚨
your skin isn’t asking you to try harder.
it might be asking you to back the hell off. 😂
if my skin suddenly became irritated + products started stinging, i’d:
1. pause the actives.
2. stop exfoliating.
3. make my routine boring.
gentle cleanser. gentle moisturiser. + a simple barrier-supporting formula or final layer that helps reduce moisture loss.
then i’d give my skin time to settle before gradually introducing treatments again.
because when skin gets angry, our instinct is often to find another product to fix it.
sometimes the smartest thing you can do is remove things instead.
stop treating. start supporting. 🌿
getting older hasn’t made me want more skincare. it’s made me much pickier about what i do to my skin. 👀
three things i’m not interested in:
chasing every new active because the internet suddenly decided we all need it.
exfoliating the absolute life out of my face trying to make it impossibly smooth.
* treating every line, pore, bit of pigmentation + texture like something that needs fixing.
i want healthy skin. comfortable skin. skin that functions well + looks like skin.
i’m completely happy for it to also look like it’s lived 48 years.
because ageing isn’t a skincare failure. 🖤
well, hello exosomes. 👀
vogue published an article about exosome skincare today + i have a feeling this is a word we’re all about to start hearing a lot more.
the interesting part? this isn’t just another completely made-up beauty buzzword.
exosomes are involved in cell-to-cell communication + the early research around their potential applications for skin is genuinely interesting.
but promising science isn’t the same as a proven skincare product.
different sources. different formulations. different delivery methods. + still plenty we don’t know.
so i’m not anti-exosome.
i’m actually very curious.
i just refuse to develop fomo over a skincare ingredient before the evidence catches up. 😂
watch this space. i think we’re going to be talking about these again.
your angry skin probably doesn’t need another product.
when skin suddenly feels red, tight, irritated or starts stinging when you apply products that normally feel fine, our instinct can be:
what can i put on it to fix this?
sometimes the better question is:
what can i stop putting on it?
pause the unnecessary actives + exfoliation.
simplify.
gentle cleanse. simple moisturiser. + look for ingredients that hydrate, soothe + support your skin barrier — glycerin, oat, ceramides, squalane + jojoba are some i like.
then give your skin time.
because sometimes good skincare isn’t knowing what to add.
it’s knowing when to stop.
save this for the next time your skin decides it’s had enough. 😂
Just checking in that you’ve washed your makeup brushes sometime this calendar year 👀
No judgment. Okay, tiny bit of judgment. But dirty brushes are quietly one of the biggest reasons for random breakouts, clogged pores, and skin that just won’t behave no matter what you put on it. All that product buildup + oil + bacteria goes straight back onto your face every single time you use them.
Give them a wash this week. Your skin will thank you. 🧼
natural deodorant had one job: don’t make me regret switching to natural deodorant. 😂
i wanted something with ingredients i felt good about using every day.
but i also wanted it to actually work.
because “natural” isn’t particularly useful when you’re avoiding lifting your arms by lunchtime.
this is why i keep coming back to Woohoo | Award Winning Natural Deodorant
their natural deodorant sticks are aluminium-free, vegan + made in australia, with ingredients designed to tackle odour + absorb moisture rather than stop your body from sweating.
* then there’s the packaging.
biodegradable cardboard. plastic-free. compostable when you’re finished.
good formula.
good packaging.
actually works.
+ i don’t stink.
win. 😂
maybe your skin was never the problem.
for years, women have been sold an increasingly narrow idea of what “good skin” is supposed to look like.
no pores.
no texture.
no pigmentation.
no lines.
no evidence that you’re tired.
* absolutely no evidence that you’ve had the audacity to get older.
so we looked at perfectly normal features of our faces + learned to call them problems.
i love skincare.
i love looking after my skin + there are things i choose to treat.
but i refuse to spend the rest of my life examining my face for evidence that it isn’t perfect.
healthy skin can have pores.
healthy skin can have texture.
healthy skin can have pigmentation.
healthy skin can have wrinkles.
you don’t have to earn the right to feel good about your face by fixing all of it first.
your face is allowed to look like a face.

new series: naturally brilliant 🌿
because if we’re going to talk about ingredients i’d rather avoid, we should spend even more time talking about the ones i genuinely love.
first up: jojoba.
technically a liquid wax rather than an oil, beautifully compatible with skin + naturally resistant to oxidation.
simple. plant-derived. useful.
this is the kind of ingredient i love seeing when i turn a bottle around.
* this is what naturally brilliant is going to be about: getting to know the plant-based ingredients that actually deserve the hype.
#01 — jojoba 🌿
