50 Years of NAIDOC – Celebrating and Elevating Indigenous Voices

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the world’s oldest continuing culture, reflect on our history, and recognise the strength, resilience and determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Over the past 50 years, so much has been achieved through the courage and persistence of those who came before us. From the recognition of Native Title following Mabo, to stronger Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, the revival of traditional languages, and greater representation across sport, the arts, education, parliament and media. These milestones were made possible by generations of people who stood up, spoke out and fought for recognition, equality and the right to keep culture strong.

As an aspiring Aboriginal entrepreneur , this week is especially meaningful to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, who paved the way for me. NAIDOC Week is a time for me to reflect on their journey, appreciate the opportunities I have today because of them.

💙 Do It For Dolly Day 💙

Today I painted many nails blue to support Dolly’s Dream and to stand against bullying.

Dolly was a 14-year-old girl who sadly lost her life after experiencing ongoing bullying. Her story has touched so many hearts across Australia and is a reminder of how important kindness truly is. 💔

Blue was Dolly’s favourite colour, which is why we wear it today — to honour her, raise awareness, and stand together against bullying.

At Nails By Dusty, we believe something as simple as a set of nails can start conversations, spread awareness, and show support. 💅💙
