A little reminder from my own skin recently…

I introduced a retinol into my routine and my skin reacted — redness, spots and suddenly I was looking a little too much like my teenage self. 😂

My old instinct would have been to reach for another product to calm it. A new serum, a barrier cream, something to “fix” the problem.

But as a cosmetic chemist, I also knew that meant introducing more ingredients and more variables to skin that was already reacting.

So this time, I did less.

I stopped the retinol and went back to the simple, hydrating routine I already knew my skin was comfortable with. Then I gave it time.

And it was a good reminder:

Good skincare isn’t always about what you add. Sometimes it’s knowing what to take away.
