Not everything in your hair routine needs a premium price tag.
Some things are worth investing in, and some things aren’t. These are a few Kmart finds that punch well above their price tag 👊🏼
1. Double-bristle detangling brush
If you’ve got knots, this style of brush is hard to beat. The combination of bristles helps gently work through tangles without feeling like you’re ripping your hair out.
2. A shower brush
We all need to distribute our conditioner properly, personally, I prefer a brush over a comb. For thicker, longer hair, look for one with firm bristles and a sturdy back. If your hair is finer, a softer option will do the trick. Plastic with a vented back is ideal for the shower.
3. Fabric hair ties
Always. Choose a size that suits your hair thickness, but fabric ties are generally much kinder to the hair than plastic elastics. Less pulling, less stress on the strands. NO METAL!
4. A bristle brush
If you’re embracing the slick back era, these little brushes are great for smoothing everything into place and catching those finer hairs around the hairline.
5. Velcro rollers
Thinking about trying a bouncy blow-dry? These are a great starting point. They might not give the longest-lasting result, but they’re an easy and affordable way to see if you like the look before investing in anything more expensive.
6. A shower cap
My number one recommendation if you’re trying to make your style last more than a day. Pair it with a fabric headband underneath and you’ll protect your hair from both water and steam while you shower. It sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference.

If you’ve got dry, frizzy, thick, curly OR hard-to-manage hair like mine, these are the products I keep reaching for. They help smooth, hydrate and keep my hair manageable all week long, because as most of you know, I’m a once-a-week washer 😅

This is my non-negotiable. Deeply nourishing and smoothing, it gives my hair the hydration it needs to last the full week between washes. Ideal for dry, thick OR frizz-prone hair needing softness and manageability.

Possibly my favourite of the lot because the whole family uses it, including my curly-haired daughters. Lightweight hydration, detangling, softness and heat protection all in one. Great for pretty much every hair type, especially dry, tangled or damaged hair. You moisturise your face, why not your hair?

The finishing touch PLUS added heat and humidity protection. This lightweight oil smooths flyaways, adds shine and helps seal in moisture without making the hair greasy. Guards against humidity for 72 hours!

My hot take? Grey coverage doesn’t have to mean flat, harsh or high maintenance colour. There are so many more options now depending on how much coverage you want, your lifestyle and how often you actually want to be in the salon.

Nanoplasty. Same message, different vibe 👌🏻
Either way, the results speak for themselves… but the millennial in me still feels the need to also point out this was blast dried without a brush, and as my Gen Alpha would say - that’s tough.

Mother’s Day means something a little different to all of us.
For some, it’s busy and loud. For others, quiet and reflective. Some are right in the thick of motherhood, some are missing their mums, some are longing to become one, and some are simply trying to get through the day the best they can.
For me, it’s made up of little moments. Watching my own kids grow, still needing my mum at nearly 40, and feeling grateful for the women around me who show up with love, care and support in so many different ways.
Whatever today looks like for you, I hope there’s a moment in it where you feel looked after too.

A little pre Mother’s Day haircut for my mum 🤎
Mum washes and wears her hair, so creating a shape that actually works without a heap of styling is really important. With short hair, especially short, straight hair there is nowhere to hide, which is why precision cutting matters so much.
I’d love to see older women and shorter styles represented more on social media. They deserve the same care, attention and beautiful hair moments as everyone else.

Delivery day is easily my favourite day. Fresh clothes, new products… honestly, anything. That doorbell ring still gets me every time 💗

If you’ve ever wondered how long it actually takes to get from Armstrong Creek to Chair One for a morning appointment, come along for my morning run 🚘🚘
You can easily knock about 20 minutes off this if you don’t have a drop-off to do first.
From drop-off to walking into the salon was only 21 minutes. Tail end of peak hour, including parking (which was super easy). I do this trip in even less time from 9:30 am onward 🌟
