There are a few skin myths that come up in clinic all the time, and honestly, we would love to retire them.
The idea that natural always means better. That scrubbing harder makes your skin cleaner. That oily skin doesn’t need hydration. That sunscreen only matters when the sun is out. That injectables are the only way to age well. That facials are just for relaxation. That more actives automatically mean better results.
Skincare can get very loud and very confusing, so it makes sense that people pick up these ideas along the way.
But your skin has its own barrier, tolerance, hydration levels, sensitivity, history, lifestyle and needs.
That’s why we always come back to understanding your skin first.
When you know what your skin is doing, it becomes so much easier to work out what to use, what to pull back on and what kind of support actually makes sense for you.
The more we work with skin, the more we talk about women’s health.
Because skin is connected to so much more than what products you’re using or what treatment you book.
Hormones, stress, menopause, postpartum changes, internal health, confidence and how you’re feeling in yourself all come up in the treatment room more often than people probably realise.
And that’s a big part of why Jackie is continuing to study and grow in this space.
Because when clients are sitting in front of us talking about their skin, sometimes they’re also talking about feeling different, overwhelmed, dry, emotional, frustrated or like they just don’t feel like themselves anymore.
We want to be able to support those conversations with more knowledge, more understanding and the same care that has always been at the heart of All About Skin.
Skin health will always be our foundation, but the more we listen to women in the treatment room, the more we see how much the bigger picture matters too.
It’s totally fine, honestly 😇🤣

We talk about “actives” in skincare all the time, but we know that word can feel confusing if no one has actually explained it properly.
An active is an ingredient in your skincare that is there to do a specific job.
That might be exfoliating, hydrating, brightening, calming, supporting the barrier, helping congestion or supporting long-term skin health.
The thing is, every active has a purpose.
So when you buy something because it’s trending, or add a new product because someone online loved it, your skin might be getting something it doesn’t need, isn’t ready for, or is already getting from another product.
That’s where things can start to feel overwhelming.
More products does not automatically mean better skin. More actives does not automatically mean better results.
Sometimes your skin needs the right active introduced slowly. Sometimes it needs something pulled back. Sometimes it needs barrier support before anything stronger is added in.
That’s why we always come back to understanding your skin first.
If you’re confused about what your products are actually doing, bring them in and we can help you work through what makes sense for your skin.
You don’t need to apologise for where your skin is at.
Not for the products you’ve tried. Not for the questions you have. Not for feeling overwhelmed, emotional, confused or unsure where to start.
We know skin can feel really personal, especially when it’s breaking out, reacting, feeling sensitive or just not feeling like you.
And we also know that sometimes your appointment becomes the first moment you’ve had all week to slow down, talk it out and feel looked after for a minute.
That’s always welcome here.
Whether you need help understanding your products, choosing the right treatment, supporting your barrier or simply working out where to start, we’ll meet you where you are and work through it with you.
Skin needling is one of Jackie’s favourite treatments for a reason.
It can support so many different skin goals, from texture and scarring to firmness and overall skin quality.
But the part we care about most is making sure it’s used properly.
Skin needling still needs the right skin, the right timing and the right preparation. Skin prep matters. Home care matters. Your barrier matters.
We don’t just throw needling at every client because it’s a great treatment. We look at what your skin is doing first and decide whether it makes sense as part of your plan.
When it’s used thoughtfully, it can be such a powerful treatment.
“I’m embarrassed about my skin.”
“I don’t know what I need.”
“I’ve tried everything.”
“My skin has completely changed.”
“I just want to feel like myself again.”
And every time, we want you to know there is no judgement here.
You don’t need to come in with the answers. You don’t need to know what treatment to book. You don’t need to feel embarrassed about what you’ve tried, what you’re using or where your skin is at.
We’ll start with what’s happening now, look at your skin properly and work through it with you.
Our favourite treatments, products we’re loving, the things we say in clinic all the time and what we wish clients knew before coming in.
Because yes, we know our skin, treatments and products, but we’re also the real people behind the consults, the skin chats, the treatment rooms and the calm little moments that make All About Skin, feel like All About Skin.
