A huge thank you to my amazing Dreaded Hippie community. 💚

Every time you choose to shop local and pick up my products from Rebecca at The Huntress, you’re doing so much more than buying a bar of soap, a shampoo bar, hair or face oil

You’re supporting my little handmade business, and at the same time, you’re supporting another wonderful local small business. That means the world to both of us.

In a world where it’s so easy to click “Add to Cart” from a big company, you’ve chosen to support your local community instead, and I truly can’t thank you enough.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for every purchase, every kind word, and every bit of support you’ve shown Dreaded Hippie. It means more than you know. 💚🌿☺️✌️

Oh I officially love this shampoo bar for myself 😁My son‘s been using it since I made the it, it’s put a nice shine back into his hair, so I thought I would give this one go.
My hair feels amazing, all my loose hair is soft and conditioned my curls are out, I didn’t need to use a conditioner bar with this shampoo bar and my dreads feel hydrated and smooth. 😃👍

I started making shampoo bars out of curiosity and now I absolutely love them no bottles cluttering up the shower area, quick & easy to use, they wash out easily and leave your hair feeling really clean and looking healthy, there isn’t one that I’ve made that I don’t like but I do have my favourites and right now protein power is my favourite ☺️ ✌️

✨New Shampoo Bar✨

OAT PROTEIN POWER 🌿

A nourishing botanical shampoo bar crafted for wild, untamed hair. Infused with colloidal oatmeal and oat protein to help soften, strengthen and soothe, while jojoba and camellia oil help hydrate without weighing hair down.
Scented with a grounding blend of: ✨ Lemon Myrtle ✨ Frankincense ✨ Cedarwood ✨ Patchouli✨

Fresh citrus notes meet warm earthy woods for a calming, soul-soothing wash that leaves hair feeling clean, soft and naturally balanced.

Understanding What’s in Dreaded Hippie Shampoo Bars.

Most of the cleansing ingredients in my shampoo bars are derived from coconut oil and other plant-based ingredients.

The scientific names can sound intimidating, but many are simply gentle cleansers or conditioners made from natural raw materials like coconut, sugar, vegetable oils, and guar beans.

Unlike some shampoos filled with harsh detergents, my bars are designed to be gentle, nourishing, and concentrated — without the big bottle of watered-down fillers.

Roughly speaking:

Around 70–85% of the cleansing base is derived from coconut
The remaining ingredients are mainly:
🌱plant oils
💚clays
🌱oat proteins
🌼botanical powders
✨vitamins
🌱conditioning ingredients
💗essential oils

What the Main Ingredients Actually Are

SCI (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate)

This is the main cleanser in the bars.
Despite the long name, SCI is: derived from coconut fatty acids, considered one of the gentlest cleansers available often called “baby foam” because of how mild it is.

It creates the creamy lather while helping avoid the harsh stripping effect that many shampoos have.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Another coconut-derived cleanser.

This ingredient: comes from coconut oil helps create soft bubbles reduces irritation
makes the shampoo feel gentler on hair and scalp
It’s commonly used in natural and sensitive-skin products.

Glycerin.
A natural humectant.
Usually vegetable-derived, glycerin: attracts moisture to the hair helps prevent dryness improves softness and manageability
It’s naturally produced during traditional soap making too.

Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, This one sounds scary, but it’s actually derived from the guar bean.

It works as a natural-style conditioning ingredient that:
helps detangle hair
reduces static and frizz
improves softness
gives slip to the shampoo bar, think of it as a plant-based hair smoother.

Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5)
A vitamin used in hair care to: strengthen hair,
improve shine, help retain moisture, reduce brittleness,
It’s very common in higher-end hair products.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
A natural antioxidant usually derived from vegetable oils.
It helps: protect oils from going rancid support scalp and hair health
nourish the hair.

Clays (Kaolin, Pink Clay, French Blue Clay, etc.)
Natural mineral-rich clays used to: gently cleanse the scalp absorb excess oil
add silkiness and slip
help calm irritated scalps.

Different clays bring different minerals and properties.

Botanical Oils,
Your bars also contain nourishing oils like:
jojoba
h**p seed
camellia
avocado
apricot kernel
argan
castor

These oils help:
soften hair
reduce frizz
nourish the scalp
improve shine and manageability

Essential Oils
Unlike synthetic fragrances, your scents come from real plant essential oils.
These are distilled from:
flowers
leaves
woods
roots
resins
Examples include lavender, patchouli, rosemary, cedarwood, manuka, frankincense, and ylang ylang.

Why The Ingredients Have Long Names?

Natural ingredients still need proper scientific names for safety and cosmetic labelling laws.

For example:
“Water” is listed as Aqua
Vitamin E becomes Tocopherol Coconut-derived cleansers get scientific names,
That doesn’t make them harsh or unnatural — it’s simply the proper cosmetic naming system used worldwide.

In Simple Terms…

Dreaded Hippie shampoo bars are made using:
coconut-derived cleansers
plant oils
mineral clays
botanical ingredients
vitamins
essential oils

They’re highly concentrated, plastic-free, and designed to gently cleanse without loading hair with unnecessary fillers.

I’m so pleased with these solid shampoo bars🤩, I’ve been working on these for awhile tweaking the recipe as I go researching different botanicals 🌱& root 🫚oils that play beautifully with your scalp & hair, blending essential oils together so while you’re in the shower you’ve got the beautiful aroma drifting over you like gentle waves, it’s like a spa day aromatherapy shower 🛀😍 💗🧘
Ahhhhh! I’m feeling relaxed just typing this ☺️✌️

I’m also working on a conditioner bar at the moment, I’m still playing, still tweaking the recipe, I’m a bit of a fuss pot it has to be perfect 👌 😁✌️

I’ve noticed lately when I’ve been posting my pictures and write up that facebook has been putting in AI generated information or something like that at the top and I want to say, yes I do use AI to modify the background of my pictures but just to be clear they are my brass vases, that is my smudge stick with the black chimney background and that pink marble that you can see is a beautiful pink marble that my husband is doing at the moment on our fireplace 😍 and they are my shampoo bars so the only thing that’s been modified is background ☺️✌️ I am a real person, I work from home, I love making products but I’m a lousy photographer. 😁

Oh, I forgot to add I take two or three differently styled photos and I ask AI to merge those pictures together because as stated I’m a lousy photographer lols.
I know AI can be used in very negative ways, but it can also be used to create beautiful photos 😍✌️
