I've been fortunate to have ticked off many things on my bucket list and this was the next one!

I've always wanted to see bears catching salmon upstream.

We don't have any bears in Australia (koalas aren't bears) so this was my very first time seeing a bear.

This day almost didn't happen as the weather gave us hours of delays but then finally it cleared up!

My husband is afraid of flying and we had to catch the smallest plane we've ever caught that only had 8 passengers! The first flight was a bit over an hour then the weather changed and we were held up in a tiny pub for a couple of hours.

This pub had 1 server and 1 chef who did amazingly to feed us all, I'm sure it was the most amount of customers it ever had at one time.

We then got the all clear and took a sea plane for 25mins before arriving at Katmai national Park.

Also a surprisingly smooth ride, when we arrived instantly there were bears on the beach!! Not just one bear, but multiple families with babies!!!

We had to sit on the plane for a little bit until they passed.

We then went to bear school and got the dos and don'ts when it came to bears. We had to leave all scented things behind including sunscreen etc.

There were multiple viewing platforms along the way which were gated from bears however the trails leading to them were in the wild amongst the bears which blew my mind!!

This was the last week to do this tour so I'm so beyond grateful for the weather to have cooperated.

Please don't wait until 'one day' or a life scare to tick off your bucket list. Money you'll get back, time you won't.

Rocky Mountaineer part 2.

It was an early start and a long day but we were very much well looked after.

Such a great experience! So beautiful on our way from Kamloops to Banff.

Loved seeing salmon in the wild!
