🌿 Ear Shen Men

One of the most well known points in auricular acupuncture, Shen Men is often used as part of a treatment to help settle the nervous system and create a sense of calm and regulation.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shen Men is considered a point that can help settle the spirit, making it a lovely addition when someone is feeling stressed, overwhelmed, restless or unable to switch off.

🌿 Today marks 48 years since Mary arrived in Australia from England!

Three days later, she met Pete, who had just returned to Australia after holidaying in England.

What a huge moment that must have been arriving in a new country, leaving England behind and beginning a whole new chapter in Australia. 😊🌿

🌿 There’s tired, and then there’s the kind of tired where a good night’s sleep doesn’t seem to touch it.

You’re still functioning, still getting through work and everyday life, but your patience is shorter, your capacity is lower and things you normally enjoy can start to feel like too much.

And strangely, when you finally get some time to rest, you might not even be able to relax.

That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something wrong. Sometimes it’s a sign that you’ve been switched on for too long and haven’t had enough genuine recovery.

Being worn out isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it looks like coping, just with very little left in the tank.

Start by noticing where your energy is going and giving yourself some genuine time to recover, rather than constantly pushing through.

And if you’re finding it difficult to get back to feeling like yourself, we’re here to help. Acupuncture, massage, naturopathy and FSM offer different forms of support, depending on what you’re experiencing.

🌿 Meg had a quick Moxa training session with Joel earlier this week. Any little moments throughout the day our team usually end up training and sharing information or techniques with each other.

🌿 A little golden light in a quiet room. A beautiful space to slow down.

There’s something about our rooms that hold its own kind of magic, the kind you feel before a single needle is even used.

A place to pause, reset and let your body do a little of what it already knows how to do.

🌿 Pete applying moxa to SP6, a commonly used acupuncture point on the lower leg.

Moxa is made from dried mugwort and is gently heated above the skin to bring warmth to the acupuncture point. We often use it when we want to warm and support the lower abdomen and pelvic area, particularly when there are signs of cold, tension or depletion.

SP6 is also commonly used in treatments for menstrual, pelvic and digestive concerns.

It’s a simple technique, but the gentle warmth can feel incredibly soothing and relaxing.

🌿 Sometimes we want to understand everything straight away.

Why we’re feeling this way. Why something has come up again. What it means and what we’re supposed to do about it.

But not everything becomes clear while we’re in the middle of it.

Sometimes we need a little time and space for things to settle. Once the water is clearer, we can see what’s actually there, and perhaps see it differently than we did before.

🌿 Sometimes life brings us back to things we thought we had already worked through.

It can be easy to see this as going backwards, but often we’re not returning as the same person. With time, experience and a little more understanding, we can meet familiar situations differently.

What once felt overwhelming might now be something we can recognise, understand or respond to in a different way.

Growth isn’t always about leaving things behind. Sometimes it’s about being able to see them with a different perspective when they come around again.

🌿 We’re not just looking for acupuncture points. We’re looking for what the body is telling us.

In Japanese acupuncture, we look for what we call the ‘alive point’ a place that feels different when we palpate it.

It might be a subtle tightness, a change in temperature, or a difference in the texture or quality of the skin.

Once we find it, the needle is only part of the treatment.

The direction we needle, the depth and the technique we use all matter. And once the point has been treated, we check the body again.

We might feel the pulse, palpate the abdomen or simply ask what has changed.

That response gives us information.

From there, we build on what the body is showing us, rather than following a treatment exactly as planned from the beginning.

It’s less about putting needles in points, and more about listening to the body and responding to what we find.
