➡️ Building More Options
Hi, I’m Craig, a FiFo mining dad worker in Australia, and Dad to 2 children that are growing up fast. I’ve been working away from home all my life so now I am on a journey to change this and make the changes to like-minded FiFo workers. That want to break free from the long stressful shifts and be home with their families. My mission is to generational change, guiding other mining dads to live dif
What’s Your Long-Term Plan?
This is a question I avoided for years.
Not because I didn’t care about the future, but because the next swing always came first.
Work.
Come home.
Recover.
Spend time with the family.
Then fly out and do it again.
Eventually, I realised that “I’ll work it out later” wasn’t really a plan.
I still don’t have every answer, but I’ve started building toward something instead of only thinking about it.
What does your ideal life look like five years from now?
Most of us had a reason when we first started.
For me, it was simple: provide for my family and create a better future.
Years pass quickly, though.
A short-term plan can quietly become a long-term lifestyle.
My reason for working hard hasn’t changed, but the way I think about the future has.
Now I’m asking what else I can build while I still have the security of FIFO behind me.
Why did you originally start FIFO—and is that still your reason today?

22+ years in mining.
That’s a big part of my life.
FIFO has provided opportunities, experiences and a career that I’m grateful for.
But somewhere along the way I started asking myself a different question:
What else could I build?
Not because I need to run away from mining tomorrow.
But because I don't want my job to be the only thing I'm building.
That thinking led me into the health and wellness business space and eventually to what I’m working on today.
I’m still working FIFO.
I’m still learning.
And I’m building this alongside my existing life.
Now I’m looking for a few serious Africans and South Africans in Australia who might want to explore building alongside me.
People who understand that worthwhile things take time, effort, consistency and teamwork.
If you've ever looked at your own career and thought...
“There has to be something else I could build as well.”
Maybe we should talk.
Comment BUSINESS or send me a DM.
No big promises.
Just a conversation about what I’m building and whether it could make sense for you too.

I don’t believe every FIFO story needs to be negative.
I enjoy being useful.
I enjoy fixing problems.
I enjoy the satisfaction of getting equipment running again when something has gone wrong.
FIFO has given my family opportunities, and I’m grateful for that.
I’m building something else because I want choices—not because I’m pretending the last 22 years were a mistake.
What do you enjoy most about your job—and what part are you tired of?
Message " FIFO" 👇
This is probably the least exciting part to show.
Finish work.
Get back to the donga.
Sort myself out.
Then, when I can, spend some time learning and working on the business I'm building alongside FIFO.
Some days I do more than others.
I'm not interested in pretending it's effortless.
But I like knowing that some of my time is going towards something I'm building for myself.
Could you find 30 minutes around your roster to start learning something new?

There are plenty of good things about FIFO.
There are also parts we accept because they come with the job.
The travel.
The missed moments.
The fatigue.
The pressure placed on the person holding everything together at home.
Everyone experiences it differently, so I’m genuinely interested in the answers.
If you could change one thing about FIFO life, what would it be?
FIFO has taught me plenty about pumps, breakdowns, pressure and problem-solving.
But the biggest lesson has nothing to do with equipment.
Life changes faster than we expect.
Kids grow up.
Priorities shift.
The roster that suited you ten years ago may not suit the life you want ten years from now.
That’s why I no longer believe one plan should carry the entire future.
What is the biggest lesson FIFO has taught you?
Most people don’t lack ambition.
They’re tired.
They work long hours, have family responsibilities and don’t want to waste time on another thing that goes nowhere.
I understand that because I spent a long time wondering where to start—and made plenty of wrong turns along the way.
The first step wasn’t having everything worked out.
It was being honest about what had been holding me back.
What’s the biggest thing stopping you:
time,
confidence,
technology
or not knowing where to begin?
Let me know in the comments and happy to show you what i am building towards....
