The science behind PRP (platelet-rich plasma) starts with platelets. They’re best known for helping your blood clot, but they also act like the body’s “first responders” — releasing signalling proteins (often called growth factors) that help coordinate the skin’s natural repair process. Think: sending messages that encourage recovery, support tissue remodelling, and help the skin do what it’s designed to do after stress or injury.
That’s the idea behind PRP in skin-focused settings: using a platelet‑rich preparation to deliver more of those repair signals to a targeted area, as part of a personalised treatment plan. It’s not a one-size-fits-all option, and outcomes can vary depending on your skin, your goals, and individual factors. Results vary from person to person.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your results and your safety is… reschedule. ✨
Here are 5 common reasons we may recommend moving your appointment:
If you’re unwell (cold/flu/fever or you’re run down), it’s always better to wait until you’re fully recovered. If you’ve recently had medical treatments or procedures — including dental work — we may need to adjust timing to reduce risk and support proper healing.
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, many aesthetic treatments aren’t recommended, so we’ll always err on the side of caution and happily rebook to after this period.
Starting new medications can also change what’s appropriate — especially blood thinners (which may increase bruising/bleeding risk) and antibiotics (depending on why you’re taking them). Always let us know what you’re on so we can guide you safely.
And finally, if you have long-haul flights booked, it can be worth planning around travel so you’re not dealing with swelling, bruising, or aftercare while you’re away.
Not sure if you should keep your appointment? Send us a quick DM or call the clinic — we’re happy to advise. Suitability varies and results vary.

If midlife weight changes have you thinking “I’m doing the same things… so why is my body responding differently?” — you’re not alone.
For many women, the 35–60 season can come with shifts that affect weight and body composition: hormone changes, sleep disruption, stress load, appetite cues, and a gradual change in muscle mass and metabolism. It’s not a willpower issue — it’s often a context issue.
If you’re feeling stuck, a personalised consult can help you join the dots and create a realistic plan that fits your life.

Not sure what to expect at your appointment? Here’s a simple peek behind the scenes at how we do things at Ruby Leigh Aesthetics — so you feel informed, comfortable, and never rushed.
We’ll start by chatting through your goals, expectations and any concerns. From there, we’ll assess your facial structure and skin condition so we can understand what’s going on and what’s realistic for you.
Next comes the education piece (our favourite part). We’ll talk through the options that may be suitable, what the process involves, potential risks, and what you can realistically expect — with no pressure and no “one size fits all” approach.
If treatment is appropriate and you’re happy to proceed, it’s performed in-clinic by our licensed Registered Nurse. After your appointment, you’ll be given clear and detailed aftercare instructions.
Lastly, we'll book you a follow-up appointment for around 2–4 weeks later (timing can vary depending on the service).
Results vary from person to person.

We get it — it’s tempting to come in with a number in mind. But in a clinical setting, dose isn’t something you ‘pick’ like a menu item.
A safe treatment plan is based on an individual assessment: your anatomy, medical history, goals, and what’s clinically appropriate. That includes discussing risks, realistic expectations, and aftercare, and making sure you feel informed — not pressured.
You’ll always have a say in your goals and your comfort level, but the clinical decision-making (including dosing) needs to be guided by professional judgement and safety standards. Suitability varies, and results vary.

Lip anatomy matters because lips aren’t a “one size fits all” feature — shape, movement, and proportion are different on every face.
When determining any lip treatment plan, a thorough assessment takes into account the
definition and shape, lip height and projection, corners of the mouth (commissures) and how they move when you speak/smile.
This is why consultations matter — understanding anatomy helps guide a personalised, balanced approach, set realistic expectations, and avoid a “trend-based” result. Suitability varies, and results always vary from person to person.

Choosing the right injector isn’t about trends — it’s about safety, qualifications, and informed consent.
Here are a few non‑negotiables to look for before you book:
Are they AHPRA registered? (and are they open about their registration + credentials)
Are they appropriately qualified and trained for the services they provide?
Are they operating legally and within professional standards (clean clinical environment, proper consent, clear policies)?
Do they provide a consultation before any treatment to assess suitability, discuss risks, and set realistic expectations?
Do they offer follow‑up care and clear guidance on what to do if you have concerns?
The right injector won’t dodge these questions — they’ll welcome them. They should be able to explain their approach clearly, without pressure, and help you feel informed every step of the way.

Progesterone is a hormone that typically rises after ovulation (the second half of the cycle) and is often associated with a more “calm” state in the body. During perimenopause, ovulation can become less consistent, which means progesterone can become lower or more variable.
For some women, those shifts may show up as:
waking overnight or too early
lighter, more restless sleep
feeling more “wired” at bedtime
Sleep is multi-factorial (stress, lifestyle, temperature changes, and other health factors can all play a role), so it’s not about self-diagnosing from a post — it’s about noticing patterns and getting the right support.
