Ayurveda emphasizes the use of natural, whole foods that are fresh and seasonal. It also places a strong emphasis on the six tastes: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent. Each taste has a different effect on the body and mind, and Ayurveda recommends including all six tastes in every meal to ensure that all aspects of the body and mind are nourished.
