Get Blown Hairstyling was established in 2015 and even in the clamping throws of personal tragedies and COVID-19, has prevailed as a durable, adaptable and client-catered-for business.

Ideally the applicant will have a few clients of their own, to keep them occupied. Really seeking to have the space utilised more so of late; so would suit a busier stylist, who is seeking a more casual approach.

From little things... Big things grow. It started as a farfetched idea in a friends garage; there were so many obstacles and things to learn - financially I was destitute and every day my vision and the likelihood of it coming to fruition was fading. It took almost 2 years from that point to get the equipment needed to operate. With no financial backing whatsoever; all my own personal money. Had someone told me that this is what I would end up with in a few years I would’ve laughed and dismissed it; transformations like this only happen to other people; successful people. It’s in the little things like my beautiful flooring (sourced and installed by one of the most beautiful souls to ever trek planet earth, my immensely brilliant friend David William Young), my meme wall (a tribute to all of what I know to be true in this life) or my now infamous custom made timber mirror complete with parlour lights (a dream come true from my friend Gavin James Rodda). It’s not what I envisioned all those years ago... but I wouldn’t want it any other way. The reality of the evolution - is far sweeter than anything I could’ve imagined. It’s been 6 years now since I registered for my ABN. And even with its hurdles, fiscal down times and the occasional client you can’t please - I reflect with a profound sense of gratitude to all of you. No one ever became great on their own. And so it is true for me also, in the biggest way. Thank you in particular to David for the monumental effort and labour you have put in to make this place what it is.

So all the hairdressers are gearing up to shut down; I’ve been so unusually fortunate in 2020; I’ve received so many enquiries and new clients, had fantastic feedback, hold a 5 star rating on my google reviews and I’ve been working almost every single day straight for 5 months.... by comparison, a million people have not worked a single day. In July alone I averaged takings of around 60% of the national average income. For me, COVID turned the world I always felt I could never succeed in up-side-down, and as the familiar environment of hostility and rejection fell to illness - I reformed after a life time of melting... while the world bowed to silence and segregation; I seized every available opportunity to work. Finally the field felt more akin for a player as maladapted as I.

For me; things have been good...

And now, the time has come for me to put the hairdryer away and power down the tools of my trade, to allow the healing of isolation to sweep out plague ad pathogen.

And as sad as I am for the velocity to suddenly cease; I am also humbled in my reflection of a unique 6 months sinking 3 pointers.

I am okay with this forced moratorium.

For me, things have been good.
And the time has come for a good thing to take temporary stop.

And On September 13, when it all finally stops, I will be rejuvenated at the helm and ready with my finger on the trigger of my tail comb, a hair dryer and a round brush...

And for me, things will continue to be good.
