As a little girl, my dream was always to have a career where I could care for and make a difference in people’s lives. I initially considered nursing, with the dream of becoming a paediatrician, but I knew I would need a career that could support me financially while I worked towards my future goals.

In 2010, I began my journey into hairdressing as a school-based apprentice. What started as a career I thought would simply help me pay my way through university soon became something so much more meaningful.

Along my journey, I also became a mum at just 19 years old. Becoming a young mum taught me strength, resilience, responsibility and a love that I had never known before. Today, I am incredibly proud to have two beautiful children who are my biggest motivation in everything I do, alongside a loving partner who we are very blessed to have in our lives and bring so much love and joy to the three of us.

I continue to work hard every single day while raising my children and doing everything I possibly can to provide for them, care for them and give them the best life I can. I want to raise them with so much love, teach them to believe in themselves and, most importantly, become the best role model I can be for them. I want my children to grow up knowing that no matter where you start, with hard work, determination and a good heart, you can create something you are truly proud of.

As the years went on, I discovered how much joy I found in making people feel beautiful, confident and cared for. My salon became more than just a place to have your hair done — it became a safe space where people could come when they were at their lowest, celebrate when they were at their highest, or simply have someone there to listen, support, love and guide them.

There have been countless moments where a client has walked through my doors carrying the weight of the world, and walked back out with a smile, a little more confidence and a sense of relief. Those moments completely changed my perspective on what I wanted to do with my life.

I realised that, in my own way, I was already doing what I had dreamed of as a little girl — caring for people and making a difference. Perhaps not always in the way the world traditionally sees it, but in a way that is deeply meaningful to each individual who sits in my chair.

Hairdressing has given me the opportunity to help people feel seen, valued, beautiful and supported. It has allowed me to build a career, raise my beautiful children, provide for my family and create a space where I can make a genuine difference in people’s lives.

When I look back at the little girl who dreamed of caring for others, I realise I never lost that dream. I simply found my own way of living it.
