At Esthetic By Design are committed to providing beauty services without comprising a high standard

Lidocaine and tetracaine block sodium ion channels which are required for the initiation & conduction of neural impulses. This result in local anaesthesia. When the pre-numb cream is applied to intact skin before the procedure it travels through the kin and provides its full action in around 30 minutes (although it begins to work in as little as 10 minutes).

Once the skin is broken (eg. mid way through the procedure) a gel formulation is better at travelling through the skin and is used when needed for continual topical anaesthesia. The gel formulation also contains epinephrine to help control bleeding.

Important to know that anything less than 5% anaesthetic doesn’t work well enough for cosmetic tattooing (e.g. Emla and Numit cream are available over-the-counter, but not usually adequate for a cosmetic tattoo or PMU procedure). Anything over 10% anaesthetic needs a doctor’s prescription. Between 5 and 10% is only available via a Compounding Pharmacy, i.e. they make the ‘medicine’ (anaesthetic) for the ‘patient’ (client).

Australia law requires clients to purchase your own anaesthetic. Please order your numbing cream online by clicking this link:

Cost roughly: $39.90 (both Pre-numb & Stay Numb)

This cream will last for 2-3 sessions and we will keep the numbing cream for your next touch up.

What do you need to know 1-3 days before getting a lip blush tattoo? 🥰
👄 You shouldn’t have any alcoholic beverages in your system at all in the 24 hours leading up to your visit. Alcohol can thin the blood, which can cause the skin to be hypersensitive, and bleed/ bruise easily.
👄 Avoid blood thinning medications for 72hrs before your appointment. This includes ibuprofen, aspirin and fish oil tablets.
👄 Avoid coffee or tea (1/2 cup is ok, drink decaffeinated) or excessive amounts of caffeine.
👄 Gently exfoliate your lips 2 days prior to your procedure, 2x/day (you could use sugar and coconut oil mixture for a natural exfoliate).
👄Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water (the first sign of dehydration is dry lips)
👄 Avoid intense physical activity on the day of treatment (light yoga and walking are ok).
👄 It’s encouraged to bring your favorite lipsticks and/or lip liners with you to your appointment or photos of lip shapes and colors you prefer.
👄 Keep your lips well hydrated with a good lip balm.
👄 Eat before your appointment. This procedure takes roughly 3 hours from start to finish. Make sure you have something in your stomach as you will also need to fast for 3-5 hours post-procedure.
👄 If you have ever had a cold sore, been prone to any type of cold sores (herpes simplex virus) or you may have the herpes simplex virus that lies dormant in your system, this procedure could cause an outbreak. It is best to consult with your doctor and upon your doctor’s recommendation, take doctor-prescribed medication such as Acyclovir, Zovirax, or Valtrex before and after the lip procedure to help prevent or lessen the severity of an outbreak.

The most important is keep it MOIST MOIST MOIST!
It is vital to come to your appointment with smooth, moisturized lips for the best results 💋

What happens if you come with dry lips for your Lip Blush Tattoo Appointment?

Attending your appointment with super dry and chapped lips will also cause you to be more sensitive while being tattooed as well.
Hydration is key and starts from within. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water a few days before your session will help a lot with dry skin.
It’s also great to exfoliate 24 hours prior and use your favorite moisturizing lip mask to keep your lips soft and fresh for your tattoo day.
Keep lips moisturized for your permanent makeup services.
Pre care is very important when it comes to having your lips tattooed to get the best result for your lip tattoo 👄
