FRONTLINE | One word, one vision, one image
The soul of a healthcare worker behind the mask
the fear of the unknown everytime you go to work
the pain of the person you're treating, their family, their friends
the hope of what you are doing will help
the knowledge that you can, and you do make a difference
the drive to just DO despite the consequence that it may have to your own self
After spending the majority of my 25+ year nursing career in ICU’s and in infection control, my hat is off to the ladies and gents out there at the moment.
The personal toll is enormous; you deserve gratitude and respect from all forever
THANKYOU
TOTAL CREDIT FOR THIS IMAGE IS TO THE AMAZING ARTIST - this is exactly as I see my self after looking after a patient. You see through to the soul. Unbelievable.

HYGIENE | have you washed your hands?

Photos 12/03/2020

FEEL | The old saying of look listen and feel is so relevant with skincare and skin management.
If looks crusty it probably is crusty!
The texture of the skin speaks volumes of what your diet, internal health and external environment or exposure amongst other things are doing.
Yeah sometimes there are curveballs... but generally things can be managed
Listen to your aesthetician or derm nurse when they suggest things because sometimes we really are skin whisperers
Maintaining good texture ensures that your skin surface remains intact and microbiome stays healthy. I.e. you don’t crack and fall apart
So hydrate that
Drink that
Spf that
Protect that

CONFIDENCE | Beauty is all about perception. And the courage to be yourself and know that what is within you will shine through
In the day and age of images and instant beauty, it’s easy to lose reality, lose yourself.
Any size, any age, any skin type YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
Instagram and social has embraced equality in s*x and culture to some degree, REMOVE THE FILTERS!
Skin confidence and realising that skin issues are NORMAL and can be helped in most cases.
See beauty IN reality
See beauty IN confidence
See beauty IN YOURSELF JUST THE WAY YOU ARE 💓

BODY | Being the largest organ of the body there’s a large surface to cover.
Approximately 1.5-2sq.m (16-21 sq. Ft),
That’s huge!
That’s a massive area to treat and inspect.
And, is why in cosmetic and aesthetic practice we sometimes refer you to see dermatologist to have full body checks
There are many areas that you just can’t see yourself
Common areas where skin cancer can be found are nails, scalp, feet and toes, ears, buttocks, eyelids, mouth and even behind tattoos.
In short this post is about protecting your largest asset, and knowing every inch of yourself.
Love the skin you’re in! 🙏🏽.

LAYERING | There is no one single miracle cream, lotion or potion. Layering products enable the skin to absorb various products and reap the benefits of combined therapies
Remember the rule of 5:
* No more than 5 at a time
* No more than a 5 cent piece of product (small coin or smaller, obviously more for body areas, smaller for smaller areas, e.g. eyes)
* Min 5 seconds before the next layer (5-10 is usually enough, or a mindful deep breath)
* Apply to the 5 face and neck points, and leftovers on hands over the neck to deck
* Spf 5x a day
Remembering that oil doesn't like water
Thin water-based products first
Then oils
Then creams
(+ Optional Mist)
(This is the basics - except for transepidermal brands and systems that are sprayed with a mist to finish, these must have a mist to draw the products into the skin. For this reason, layering basics can be mixed a bit.
Keep it simple; simple is easier to stick to and do in a hurry)

HELP IF YOU CAN | This isn't a usual skin post. Its a plea for help!
Our friends and families, our animals, are struggling... Dying!
For those that don't know we are based in a fire-affected region near NSW Blue Mountains.
And can see the smoke and flames every day
It's terrifying watching it
We are doing dropoffs again today, and donating 25% of all takings this week to bushfire reliefs
Every little bit counts
If you weren't sure how to help, please check out this post.
Its mostly relevant to Australians BUT has set up a fantastic fundraising link and funds will be distributed to those on the posted list

VITAMIN C | Like lollies for the skin - lifesavers
Say what?!
Vitamin C is a skin saver. Vitamin C aids in your skin's natural regeneration process, which helps your body repair damaged skin cells.
In neutralising these free radicals, vitamin C MAY also help protect skin from precancerous changes caused by UV exposure.
As studies have shown that vitamin C may help prevent and treat ultraviolet (UV)-induced photodamage.
Why?
The antioxidant properties of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and its role in collagen synthesis make vitamin C a vital molecule for skin health.
Vitamin C benefits for skin include stimulating collagen production as well as neutralising free radicals. Daily use of a balanced and stabilised Vitamin C facial serum will ensure that your skin soaks up all of the perks of this potent ingredient.

Vitamin C promotion of collagen production thus reduce fine lines, and increased potential to thicken the dermis - thicker youthful skin!
It’s Anti-inflammatory causing response also prevents redness and inflammation even after sun exposure.
So it has a positive effect on reducing hyperpigmentation at levels of 5% and above

For adults, the recommended daily amount for vitamin C is 65 to 90 milligrams (mg) a day, and the upper limit is 2,000 mg a day - orally.
Although too much dietary vitamin C is unlikely to be harmful, megadoses of vitamin C supplements might cause: Diarrhea. Nausea
So don’t overload yourself
Topical and direct delivery of Vitamin C to the skin is the best way to target the areas that most need it.
That is stable vitamin c serums and creams, so quality products to get results
Vitamin C is for all skin types and conditions
But MUST be used with SPF and does not replace TEWL (transepidermal water loss - water evaporated through the skin layers)
Some Vitamin C serums can make you more photosensitive - SPF at the highest grade (different countries differ in ratings - Australia is 50+) after your Vitamin C.

MUSCLE LAYERS | Little is mentioned about the different anatomical layers of skin in the face in beauty circles - surface layer discussions and results are what we see and hear about
Cosmetic circles we hear and see fatty pads and muscles, and structural changes
Let’s put the two together
Call it Christmas love from Beauty Rx
When we look after our muscle and don’t forget fascia layers, we are improving the outer layers as well.
Manipulation and circulation with a good facial workout will assist lift shape, tone, texture, function and the list goes on.
A proper facial people, a muscle workout for the face.
Face gym is a real thing
The face has muscles like every other part of the body
To get a nice 🍑 would you sit on the couch or go to the gym?
So to get a beautiful face,☺️ would you sit on the couch or come to us?
Do your research
Go to the right person
Exercise your muscles!
Superficial products and machinery won’t help long term, and they need to be repeated over time - these are peels and laser. They definitely have a place.... but let’s get deeper
COMBINE TECHNIQUES AND TREATMENTS!
There are many muscle improving techniques and treatments, specifically for the face. Examples but not limited to ⬇️

As dermatology skin nurses and dermal therapists, we have an arsenal!

BEAUTIFUL | why don't I look like this when I wake up?
Probably because I haven't drunk my 2-3 litre of water the day before
And I've overeaten dairy and gluten (I'm lactose and gluten intolerant, lol, seriously)
Serious envy of this woman
