Little wildling playgroup
Holistic nature play sessions. Reconnecting children to nature through sensory exploration and play!
It’s something we hear from parents after our sessions more often than we can count.
And it’s one of the things we love most about nature play.
Because while our programs are designed for children, they create space for parents too. Space to slow down. To breathe. To sit in the grass. To have a conversation without rushing. To watch your child explore without feeling like you need to direct every moment.
There’s something about stepping outside, surrounded by trees, fresh air, birdsong and a little bit of mud, that asks us to slow our nervous systems down.
And when a parent feels more relaxed and regulated, their child often feels that too.
Children are incredibly attuned to the adults around them. They notice our pace, our tone, our tension and our calm. When we create moments where we can soften and reconnect, we’re not only caring for ourselves, we’re creating a calmer environment for our children to explore, play and feel secure.
Maybe that’s why our playgroups often feel like a little exhale in the middle of a busy week.
The children get to climb, dig, create, imagine and get wonderfully dirty.
And the grown-ups get a moment to simply be.
Because caring for children doesn’t mean we have to disappear from the picture.
Sometimes the best thing we can give our children is a parent who has had a chance to breathe, reconnect and fill their own cup too. 🌿

Reminder: our playgroups are just as good for parents’ health and wellbeing as they are for the children. 🌿
Because sometimes getting out of the house, breathing some fresh air and spending a couple of hours surrounded by other humans who get it is exactly what we need.
There’s something about being outdoors that asks a little less of us. The children can wander, climb, dig, create and explore, while we slow down alongside them.
It’s a chance to put the washing, emails, dishes and never-ending to-do list aside for a little while. To have a conversation with another parent. To watch your child discover something new. To drink your coffee while it’s still warm-ish. ☕️
And perhaps most importantly, to remember that you are part of the community too.
Our playgroups are spaces for children to play freely, but they’re also spaces for parents to connect, breathe, laugh, share the messy bits and feel a little less alone in the beautiful chaos of raising small humans.
Because caring for children also means caring for the people raising them. 🤎
Come for the nature play. Stay for the community.

For a couple of hours, there is nowhere they need to be.
No one asking them to sit still, move faster, finish up or hurry along.
They can stop to watch an ant carry a crumb.
Spend ten minutes making mud soup.
Climb the same log over and over again.
Collect a pocketful of tiny treasures.
Get distracted by a feather, a beetle, a puddle or a patch of sunlight.
And perhaps that is the gift of childhood we so often forget to protect.
Time to move slowly.
Time to wonder.
Time to follow their curiosity without an agenda.
Nature doesn’t rush them.
And neither do we. 🌿
And this doesn’t not just apply to children.
There is something quietly powerful about making.
The squish of mud between your fingers.
The rhythm of weaving.
The slow scrape of a stick against wood.
The brush moving across paper.
The feeling of wool, clay, bark and leaves beneath your hands.
When children make things, they aren’t simply creating something to take home. They are slowing down. They are concentrating, experimenting, problem-solving and discovering what their hands are capable of.
Their minds have space to wander while their hands are busy.
In a world that can feel increasingly fast, noisy and screen-filled, working with natural materials brings children back to something wonderfully simple: I can make this. I can change this. I can create something with my own two hands.
And perhaps that is why making can feel so grounding.
Because sometimes the body doesn’t need more stimulation.
Sometimes it just needs to exhale. 🍂
