Okay… so what the hell are spicules? 😂

Because I’ve been talking about SQT, showing you my face peeling off and telling you there are tiny little spicules involved… without actually explaining what they are.

So meet the sponge. 👋😂

SQT Bio-Microneedling uses microscopic spicules derived from freshwater sponge.

During the treatment, these tiny spicules are massaged into the skin by hand — so unlike traditional microneedling, there’s no needling device involved.

And the weirdest part? You can actually feel them afterwards.

For the first couple of days, whenever I touched my face it had this strange prickly feeling. Then came the dry, peeling stage you’ve all now seen in its full glory 🤣

The whole process is designed to support the skin’s natural renewal process — which is why I’ve been so excited to introduce SQT at Kaikovae.

I promised you some actual education amongst all the photos of my face falling off, so there’s lesson number one 😂

What do you want next — what the treatment actually feels like, the downtime, or who SQT is best suited to?

Monday morning glamour at its finest 😂

Smoothie in hand, hair doing whatever this is… and we’re off.

Yesterday disappeared into Father’s Day — breakfast, dinner and all the family stuff in between — so today it’s back to my usual Monday run around.

Errands, life admin, school stuff and then home to put my CEO hat on for Kaikovae.

There’s actually a LOT happening behind the scenes at the moment… SQT officially launching, September appointments, stock, salon plans and the usual giant list of things I convince myself I’ll somehow get done in one day 🤣

Anyway… first, smoothie.

Happy Monday 🩷

Okay… I promised you some SQT education, so let’s start with the obvious question 😂

What actually IS SQT Bio-Microneedling?

Despite the name, this isn’t traditional microneedling with a pen or needles.

SQT uses tiny natural sponge spicules that are massaged into the skin during the treatment. These microscopic spicules create microchannels in the skin and stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process.

And yes… those little suckers are exactly why I’ve been walking around feeling rather spiky and now shedding my face. 🤣

Depending on the treatment selected, SQT can be used to target concerns including:

✨ Fine lines & signs of ageing
✨ Pigmentation & uneven skin tone
✨ Texture & enlarged pores
✨ Acne and congestion
✨ Overall skin rejuvenation

There’s no machine and no traditional needles — which is one of the things that fascinated me about it in the first place.

But I think the most important thing to know is that SQT is not a “have a facial and look pretty for dinner tonight” treatment. 😂

Your skin goes through a process afterwards. There can be redness, sensitivity, that prickly sensation I’ve mentioned and, as you saw yesterday… peeling.

That’s why I’ve been documenting my own treatments from start to finish. I want you to see the whole process — not just a shiny before & after photo.

Next up I’ll show you what to expect day-by-day after SQT, because I think that’s probably the biggest thing you need to understand before deciding if this treatment is for you. 🥰

And if you have questions about SQT, drop them below — I’ll use them for the next education posts. 👇

Well… you wanted to know more about SQT 🤣

Here’s the less glamorous part 😂

I’m currently in the peeling stage after doing another SQT treatment on myself and yes… apparently I’ll just be spending my Friday shedding my face in the salon 🤣

This is actually one of the reasons I wanted to do the treatment on myself before properly launching it.

I wanted to know what it feels like.
What the first few days are like.
What the downtime actually looks like.
And what I’d be asking my clients to go through before I ever asked them to do it.

So when I tell you what to expect from SQT, it’s because I’ve actually done it myself. 🥰

Yesterday you guys had LOTS of questions, so over the next few days I’m going to take you through exactly what SQT is, what happens to your skin afterwards and show you my full results.

For now though…

Happy Friday from me and my peeling chin. 🤣🤣

I’ve been working on something pretty exciting behind the scenes… and it’s finally time. 👀🖤

Over the last few weeks I’ve been researching, training, treating my own skin, completing my certification and learning everything I can about a completely new treatment for Kaikovae Beauty.

SQT Bio-Microneedling is officially coming to the salon. 🙌

And this one feels like a pretty big step for me.

It’s very different to anything I currently offer, and rather than rushing to put it on the menu, I wanted to take my time, experience the treatment myself and feel completely confident before introducing it properly.

Over the next little while I’m going to show you exactly what SQT is, how it works, what the treatment and recovery actually look like, and most importantly… the results. 👀

I’ve documented my own skin journey from before treatment right through to Day 7, and I’m VERY excited to show you what happened. 🥰

I’ll also be opening a very small number of first-treatment opportunities before the full launch, so if skin treatments are your thing… keep an eye on the page. 👀

SQT has officially arrived at Kaikovae Beauty. 🖤

02/09/2026

Well… that escalated quickly 🤣

I had a client reschedule this morning, so suddenly found myself with a few unexpected hours up my sleeve.

Naturally I used them responsibly… cleaned the house, did some laundry, got everything sorted 👏

Then I popped into Joondalup because I needed a fry pan.

A FRY PAN.

Anyway… I have a new wardrobe. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

I’m not entirely sure where the fry pan went wrong, but here we are.

Please tell me I’m not the only person who goes to the shops for ONE completely boring household item and somehow comes home having made a major life purchase?! 😂

SPRING!!! 🌸☀️

I cannot tell you how happy I am to officially say goodbye to winter 😂

First day of spring and I’m having a pretty cruisy day at home today… with one sneaky client/friend popped into the salon this morning because Tuesdays are the only day that works for her 🥰

Other than that, not much happening here — and I’m actually quite happy about it.

Sunshine, spring, a quiet day and September officially underway 🌸

I have a feeling this is going to be a very good month. 🖤

Anyone else ridiculously happy winter is OVER?! 😂☀️

31/08/2026

So… I took the weekend off social media 😂

I wasn’t feeling 100%, so I did something I’m not always very good at… absolutely nothing.

And I think I needed it.

The last few weeks have been a LOT — in the best possible way. Business has been amazing, this little page has gone absolutely bonkers, there are exciting new things happening behind the scenes… and I think my brain finally went, okay lady, enough 🤣

So today I’m keeping things quiet.

My planner is open, September is staring at me 👀 and I’m doing a little bit of planning without putting pressure on myself to conquer the entire world before lunchtime.

Sometimes running a business means pushing.

And sometimes it means knowing when to slow down for a minute. 🖤

Happy Monday x

Plot twist… I actually run more than one business 🤣

Sitting at the last school assembly of the year this morning and I’ve just realised I’m wearing hubby’s business hoodie 😂

Which reminded me that I don’t think I’ve ever really mentioned on here that behind the scenes, I also help run his roofing business.

So when I’m not waxing, doing facials, answering Kaikovae messages, ordering stock, doing socials, being CEO and dreaming up whatever I’m going to add to the salon next… there’s another business in the background that I help keep ticking along too 🤣

Add four kids and general life chaos into the mix and honestly… this explains a lot 😂

Anyway — last assembly of the year DONE 🙌 and now I’m swapping roofing-wife/admin mode for beauty therapist mode because I’m back-to-back today with waxing, a lash lift and a facial 🖤

Happy Friday!

27/08/2026

Back to my regularly scheduled programming today… 😂

Book Week crisis = survived.
Costumes = sorted.
Mum guilt = temporarily under control. 🤣

So today I can return my attention to the other child that constantly needs something from me… Kaikovae Beauty. 😂

It’s a salon day today and I’m actually looking forward to getting back in my little room and doing what I do best. 🖤

It still makes me laugh that I can spend one day running around stressing about Book Week and the next be back in here waxing, doing brows, talking skin and pretending I have my life completely together. 🤣

Small business owner. Mum. Professional plate spinner.

Some days I’m definitely better at one of those than the others. 😂

Right… coffee, wax pot on, let’s go. 🖤
