With school holidays underway, it’s been a busy week of early starts and late finishes, so I’m taking this weekend off. Today has been a bit of housework and catching up on things, with a break to take the girls to Bell’s for milkshakes. Thank you to the crew at Bell’s — The Girls Loved Their Milkshake & Cola Spider.

Quite a few clients have now heard about the move during their appointments. I’m keeping the exact location off social media for now, until the business currently in the space has shared its own plans.

But I can tell you I’m staying in Patton Street — just a few doors down! More details when the time is right.

Spray tan season at Brenda’s Spray Tanning & Beauty

A beautiful, even tan starts with good preparation and a little care afterwards.

Before your appointment:
• Exfoliate the day before, paying attention to elbows, knees and ankles.
• Complete shaving or waxing at least 24 hours beforehand.
• Arrive with clean skin, free from moisturiser, deodorant, perfume and makeup.
• Wear loose, dark clothing and easy slip-on shoes.

After your appointment:
• Follow the rinse time given to you—leaving it longer doesn’t always mean a better result.
• Avoid sweating, water and tight clothing until your first rinse.
• Use lukewarm water for your first rinse and follow the washing instructions provided.
• Pat your skin dry gently and moisturise daily once advised.

The colour washing away during your first rinse is the surface bronzer. Your tan will continue developing afterwards, so give it time before judging the final shade.

Planning a tan for an event? Aim to book one to two days beforehand so it has time to develop and settle.

An early start at the salon this morning for a client heading to Adelaide today before her holiday. We booked her spray tan in early so she can rinse it off before the drive, rather than having it develop for too long while she’s travelling.

I’m always happy to work around things like that when I can. I don’t mind an early start!

This afternoon I’m taking a little time for myself and having a buccal facial at Skin by Trilby. I’ve wanted to try one for ages, and I’m really looking forward to being on the receiving end of a treatment for once. It’s lovely to support another local beauty business while doing something for myself.

Christmas hours for Brenda’s Spray Tanning & Beauty are now confirmed.

From 1st of December:

Tuesday’s & Wednesday’s : 2 pm–7 pm
Thursday: 2 pm–8 pm
Friday: 2 pm–6 pm
Every second Saturday: 9 am–1 pm

I’ll be taking limited appointments on Christmas Eve, with treatments finishing by 12 pm. Gift vouchers will also be available for anyone still sorting out Christmas presents.

If you’re after an appointment before Christmas, please send me your preferred day so I can get you booked in. Once the spots are gone, they’re gone.

I’ll be closed after Christmas Eve while I get the new space ready. I’ll share more details about reopening when I can.

It’s been a busy week in the salon with the civic deb ball, a wedding this weekend, and pedicures, manicures and spray tans all picking up. Thank you for every booking and recommendation. I’m so grateful.

Behind the scenes, Peyton and I have been choosing colours and upgrades for the new space. I’ve been communicating with a manufacturer overseas about the new nail table, stools, chairs and electric massage bed. And I am so flippin’ excited about the plumbed-in pedicure chair with all the works. A few of my clients will know how long I’ve wanted this. Watch this space!

Tuesday got a bit emotional. With my parents no longer here, there are moments when I just want to share the news or ask their advice, and it hits me that I can’t. I felt a bit overwhelmed and stuck in that moment. I’m grateful for my husband, my sister and my best friends, who are always there when I need to talk. Mum would definitely have kicked my bottom for feeling sorry for myself! I’m ending the week feeling excited again.

There’s still plenty to organise before we can move, including plumbing and electrical work. Thank you for being patient and for being so keen to see the new space.
