Let us live each day with gratitude in our hearts, as we remember and thank the courageous who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
For those ordinary individuals who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances, but found the strength to persevere in spite of overwhelming obstacles to fight for a better life for our country.
We also thank those who are currently deployed on Peacekeeping Mission’s overseas preventing conflict, providing humanitarian aid and arms control.
We continue to remember and love those who returned from war but were never the same. Those heroes who would prefer to remember their mates each Anzac Day by welling in solitary deafening silence.

As we all try to heal from the impact the COVID-19 Pandemic has had and is continuing to have on our lives, we are all inspired to think more creatively and collectively about how to move on, how to build resilience, and how to transform our world into one that is more equal and just, more equitable, more inclusive, more sustainable and more healthier for everyone.
We must learn to make peace with each other and with nature. Despite living in a world with economic shutdowns, travel restrictions and a shift in priorities over the past 4 years, climate change hasn’t been on pause. We need a green and sustainable global economy that produces quality of long term jobs, reduces emissions, and builds resilience to climate impacts.
We must create a world of peace in our everyday lives by spreading compassion, kindness and hope for one another. Hope is the one thing that has seen us all get through the darkest of times. The hope that we are on the right path to a brighter future.
As we have discovered, life has a bizarre way of teaching us that you can’t always lead the life you planned, and can change in the blink of an eye. You can’t control or solve all of the world’s current problems, but never underestimate the importance and impact you can make each day.
Courage and hope can take on a life of its own if you’re willing to let it. Hope is being able to see the light of the stars in spite of the darkness. The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams, and our attitude will ultimately determine our direction in life. Hope is a very powerful thing to hold onto. It’s often those small steps, not the giant leaps that bring about lasting change in a persons life. We just need to look through that window of opportunity.

Sometimes the hardest part of your journey is the first step. You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be your best self. You mustn’t let the vision of the whole staircase overwhelm you, just take one step at a time.
No matter how we feel, we need to show up and never give up. Time has a wondrous way of showing us what really matters. Lost time can never be found again, nor an opportunity after it’s missed. What has passed is history and what lies ahead is the future. You never get the same moment twice, so show up for every single moment. The best memories are the ones you are fully present in.
You will meet many people on your journey, but not all of them are meant to stay till the end. Count your age by the quality of your friends, not by years.
Trust your journey, even if you can’t see the whole picture right now, know that everything happens for a reason. Not everyone will understand your journey, everyone is on their own path, so savour every moment that comes your way. Count your life by smiles, not by tears.
The only impossible journey is the one you never begin. You only fail when you decide to stop trying. We are all designed to be different and the world needs more people who make ripples in change and less people who lie in serenity while life passes them by.
Life teaches us to make good use of our time, while time certainly teaches us the value of life. You’ll never be brave if you don’t hurt along the way. You’ll never learn if you don’t make mistakes and you’ll never be successful if you don’t encounter failures along the way. Kindness begins with the understanding that we all struggle from time to time. It’s the most underrated human attribute, but also the greatest gift you can bestow upon another. It takes courage, bravery and generosity to put others needs ahead of your own.
Empathy, gratitude and thoughtfulness are the foundation of a random act of kindness without any expectation of anything in return; something we intuitively know will help someone during hard times. It can be a hand in the dark reminding a person that someone has your back and they’re not alone in this world.
Kindness can be a smile, an attitude, an expression or touch that lifts another. It’s a gift anyone can afford to give someone, no matter how small. Spread kindness to people not because of who they are or what they will do in return, but because of who you truly are.
Every act of kindness creates a ripple on effect with no end. It opens the doors to the heart and moulds relationships that can last a lifetime. We can’t heal the whole world in a day, but we can begin with compassion for one another in every act of kindness. Kindness costs nothing, but can mean everything.

On the 11th November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of warfare, bringing an end to the First World War. The red poppy is a symbol to show that we care for all our fallen heroes, for too many lives have been lost in every conflict of war.
Today cherish the red poppy that grows in Flanders Fields, and wear it with pride for the Valour displayed by each and everyone of our heroes, many who never returned, and the ones that did were never the same.
A true soldier fights not because of what he sees in front of him, but because of who has his back behind him. Their courage and sacrifice is admired with each and every passing year. The living owe it to those who cannot speak to tell their story. We will remember them.

Every strong willed little girl at some stage in her life delicately places her tiara on her head and role plays being an elegant princess that will someday rule the world.
Her father says she is beautiful, but she knows she has to be much more than that. But what is ‘beautiful’ anyway other than a bunch of letters strung together to make a word to stereotype someone. She has no desire to be this as a stand alone. She knows she has to be more. She has to be driven, adventurous, funny, talented, honest, interesting, amazing, independent, fierce, confident and unique to be her own definition of beautiful.
She knows she has to have the strength for the journey, but it’s also within this journey that she knows she will become her strongest. Here’s to all the girls wearing runners today instead of stilettos, who are wearing their hair in messy buns, who are out there walking in nature and who are following their dreams.
In a world that wants women to whisper, choose to yell. Don’t settle for mediocrity just because everyone else does. Utilise that unfulfilled potential.
