Using natural soap is a great way to stay in touch with the pure sources that are at work in our bodies. I hand stir, hand cut and hand wrap every bar.
The earth is full of ingredients that will soothe the skin and keep it fresh and soft. Natural soap is a great way to find cleaning products that smell wonderful. In the spirit of working with nature, I use the traditional cold and hot process methods in the creation of all of my soaps. I produce soap in small batches to assure the highest possible quality. These three soap bars are my entry to August Soap Challenge Club. The theme of this month was Brush Embroidery design. This gorgeous technique is usually used in cake and cookies decoration. My task was to translate this technique into soap domain.
As some of you may know I have two passions – soapmaking and making gingerbread cookies. I’ve tried Brush Embroidery technique on my cookies only ones so far and realised how beautiful it truly is (see pictures below)!
I choose little twigs with flowers to embellish my cold process bars and I decided to use just white colour on every bar. Soap bars are scented with “Lychee flower” fragrance, but I didn’t put any fragrance in the white as I wanted to make sure it didn’t get too hard that I couldn’t brush it. With piping bag, I made lines and dots. Using the flat paintbrush, I pulled down some of the soap towards flowers centre. Yes,it does take a bit of time and it’s important to have the correct soap "icing” consistency. Too thin and it will spread too much and won’t hold its shape. Too thick and you will not be able to squeeze it through the decoration tip.
I’m sorry I didn’t make photos of the process, but I have two pictures of my first attempt (big rose)
Maybe my creation is not perfect, but I like it anyway 😀
Thank you, Amy Warden for organising this amazing Challenge!
