এটা একটা প্রাণঘাতী রোগ। অথচ দেখুন, কি সুন্দর ভাবে কত তাড়াতাড়ি আমরা একটা প্রাণকে রক্ষা করতে পারি। ঔষধের ক্রিয়া কাল এবং sphere of action কে যে আমরা খুব একটা গুরুত্ব দেই না সেটাই আমি এই রোগীর বর্ণনার মাধ্যমে দেখাতে চেয়েছি।

২০১০ সালে এই রোগীটাকে দেখেছিলাম, ৬ বছর হয়ে গেল এখনও পর্যন্ত ওই যে ৩ ডোজ ঔষধ দিয়েছিলাম, আর কোন ঔষধ দেইনি। এটাই বাস্তব আর অবাক করার মতো ঘটনা।

রোগীর সাথে আমি ১ ঘণ্টা ধরে কথা বলেছিলাম, বলতে পারেন গল্প করেছিলাম, আর সেই গল্পের সারসংক্ষেপ আপনাদের কাছে তুলে ধরলাম।

রোগীর বয়স ২৭ বছর, গত ৮ দিন ধরে বুকের বাঁ দিকে ব্যথা। ১ বছর আগে একটা মেয়েকে তার খুব ভালো লেগেছিল, তাকে বিয়ে করবে বলে মনস্থিরও করে ফেললো। মেয়েটার চোখদুটো দেখে ছেলেটা ভালোবেসে ফেললো। ওই চোখদুটোই হলো আকর্ষণের প্রধান বিষয়বস্তু, এককথায় বলতে পারেন চোখ দেখে প্রেম। কিন্তু একদিন, সে বুঝতে পারে মেয়েটার চোখ দুটো নকল। তার পরদিন থেকে তার বুকে ব্যথা শুরু হলো। রোগীর কথা -

এই হলো রোগীলিপি। এবার কিছু কি ভাবতে পারলেন?

রোগী কিন্তু এর বেশি কিছু বলেনি। ১ ঘণ্টা ধরে বিভিন্ন কথার মধ্যে এটাই ছিল মূল কথা। নির্বাচিত রুব্রিকটা হলো ----

DECEIVE - to persuade someone that something false is the truth; to keep the truth hidden from someone for your own advantage; to trick. প্রতারণা করা। Make a person believe what is false, purposely misled. অর্থাৎ, উদ্দেশ্যমূলক ভাবে কোন ব্যক্তিকে কোন একটি মিথ্যা কথা বা বিষয়কে বিশ্বাস করানোকে বলে DECEIVE বা প্রতারণা করা। If you deceive someone, you make them believe something that is not true, usually in order to get some advantage for yourself.

Deceive (Verb) এর অর্থ হলো প্রতারণা করা, আর Deceived (Adjective) এর অর্থ হলো প্রতারিত হওয়া।

এখানে রোগী মনে করছে, মেয়েটি মিথ্যার দ্বারা (By contact lenses), উদ্দেশ্যমূলক ভাবে তাকে প্রতারণা করেছে এবং সে প্রতারিত হয়েছে। এক কথায় বলতে গেলে, যদি কোনো ব্যক্তি প্রতারিত হয় মিথ্যার দ্বারা তবে সেটা হবে Deceived, আর যদি কাউকে বিশ্বাস করে প্রতারিত বা কারো প্রতি বিশ্বাস ভঙ্গ হয়, তবে সেটা হবে Betrayed।
