The stone mushrooms 🍄 😯

They were formed about 20 million years ago through underwater volcanic eruptions when the area was an ancient seafloor. After the water retreated, wind and rain erosion uniquely sculpted them.

The "Stone Wedding" (*Kamennata svatba*) is a famous natural landmark near Kardzhali, Bulgaria. The reddish rock formations resemble a wedding party. A tragic Bulgarian legend tells of how the wind blew the beautiful bride's veil aside; when her father-in-law was captivated by her beauty and harbored dishonorable thoughts, the entire wedding party was instantly turned to stone as punishment. Only the groom was spared; he wept bitter tears and begged the wind to turn him to stone as well, so that he could be with his beloved.
