⠀⠀What happened?
⠀⠀Around 2,500 people had been attending the open-air concert of a rock band in the city center on Sunday.
⠀⠀But suddenly the weather worsened sharply and it started raining heavily with thunderstorm and young people rushed into the Nyamiha metro station.
⠀⠀Many were killed in the crush when they started slipping on the wet pavement, falling, and trampling each other. Not knowing what happened inside the tunnel, people kept pushing forward to get out of the rain.
⠀⠀As a result, at least 53 people have been killed and more than 100 injured. Most of the victims were teenage girls who had been crushed or suffocated. Two police officers also died trying to control the rush.

In the 20s of the 20th century in the state, there were four official languages: Belarusian, Russian, Polish and Yiddish.

The Church of Saints Simon and Helena is an important historical center in Minsk. It is a center of religious and social life too. The Church of Saints Simon and Helena also known as The Red Church.

Its construction was financed by Edward Woynillowicz, who was a famous public figure. Edward and his wife had two requests before they decided to finance the construction. First of all, they wanted to choose the project by themselves. In addition, they wanted to name the church after their children, Simon and Helena, who passed away at an early age. That is why this church is named after the Saints Simon and Helena.

In 1910, the church was open, and the liturgy started.
But During the time when the Bolsheviks ruled the country, the Red Church was robbed. However, the prayers were still held there. From 1932, the liturgy stopped in the church, and this building was transformed into a theater, later into the Belarusian Movie Studio. Only from 1990, the building returned its original look, and they rebuilt it as a church again. @ Church of Saints Simon and Helena

Hotel Europe is a hotel with a long history. During its long life many famous people stayed here including Mark Shagal, Vladimir Mayakovsky and so on.
The Hotel’s history began in the early XIX century when Minsk was a part of the Russian Impire. Then at the corner of Gubernatorskaya Street and Sobornaya Square (today Lenin Street and Svoboda Square) a small hotel with no name was built. The hotel enjoyed a huge success among travelers and bohemia of Minsk, plus many artists of that time captured it on their paintings.
In 1884 the hotel turned into a 3-storey building.
At the beginning of the XX century it was renovated in Modern Style which was typical for that period of architecture, got 6-storey and an impressive frontage design. At that time it was the highest building in Minsk and the largest hotel of the Northwestern Region. Hotel Europe offered 130 rooms with electricity, phones, bathtubs and hot water. There was a first-class restaurant, the first elevator in entire Minsk, hairdressing salon, a library and various shops.
Unfortunately, at the beginning of World War II Hotel Europe was completely destroyed. For more than 60 years nobody even thought about the restoration of this famous at its times and beautiful building in the heart of Minsk. In the early XXI century the hotel was remembered.
In 2004 Minsk City Administration decided to restore the hotel’s building turning it into a luxurious five-star hotel. The design project was based on the Modern Style of early XX century and almost completely repeated the look of the old Europe.
In 2007 the resurrected Hotel Europe opened its doors for you. @ Hotel "Europe"

Museum of history of Slutsk Belts. Slutsk belts are not only a historic and cultural symbol but also a modern brand of Belarus. Only noblemen could afford wearing these exceptionally beautiful, symbolic and expensive belts. They were woven in Belarus since the 18th century. Amazing events and family secrets, mysterious and sometimes mystical stories are connected with them.

Today the original Slutsk belts are a rarity: Belarus has very few of these belts. A large part of them is kept in museum and private collections around the world.

However, Belarus has revived the unique traditions of making the Slutsk belts. Modern artists make their exact copies, analogues and artistic stylized designs, which can make an exclusive souvenir from Belarus. @ Slutsk
