Let's talk TALLOW!

I've heard many people say that they could never use tallow on their skin because they think it smells like beef, and I get where that idea comes from - it's a word that sounds very unusual if you've never actually tried a well-made tallow cream.

But the truth is, properly rendered tallow does NOT smell like beef. Mine is triple rendered and purified and there's genuinely no "beefy" smell left in it at all. If anything, it's just soft, neutral and creamy, and most people are surprised by that once they actually try it!

I think sometimes the idea of something is louder than the reality of it. We build an assumption before we ever open the jar, which is completely fair! But I also think it's worth remembering that not everything is what we expect it to be, especially when we are talking about things that we've never actually tried.

Motherhood is such a wild and beautiful thing.

It’s exhausting and grounding and overwhelming and meaningful all at once.

It’s the early mornings and the reheated coffee. The constant worrying. The invisible work. The endless giving of yourself in ways big and small…somehow woven into ordinary days so quietly that no one else even notices.

Mothers carry so many things that are never really seen. The mental lists. The comforting. The teaching. The bedtime routines, little traditions, big love, and the way a house can feel like home simply because of a mother’s presence in it.

And one day, all of those little things become someone’s childhood.

No matter what stage of motherhood you’re in, I hope you feel appreciated today. I hope you get a slow moment to yourself. A cup of tea while it’s still warm. A little sunshine on your face. A reminder that the love you pour into the people around you matters so much.

Apparently it’s the first day of spring today…meanwhile, in Northern Alberta, we're still in that stretch of freezing, thawing, a little rain, a LOT of melt...this is when everything feels stuck between seasons. But if you look closely, things are shifting.

The snow is slowly disappearing, the days are getting longer, and all that messy in-between? It's soaking into the ground getting the soil ready for growing season.

It might not feel like spring just yet, but it’s working quietly beneath the surface!
