It has been just a little over 19 years since Shahna Rice began what we now know as Funds for Furry Friends. This time back in 2001, before she started recruiting friends (and family) to foster, she had 14 dogs in the basement of her house over the Christmas holidays.

Thank God for Foster Homes!!!

One thing that still stays the same is our need for constant fundraising. Spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and specialty surgeries never take a break, even during a pandemic. And in 2020, just like back in 2001, we can pretty well tell our donors, almost to the penny, how their donation will be spent.

In 2020 so far, we have spent over $84,000 in veterinary expenses. And the animals are worth every penny.

The Rescue has been prevented from hosting traditional fundraisers, but our adopters and supporters have really stepped-up to help. For example, Black Orchid Beauty Salon and Gifts held a gift basket fundraiser. And, according to our Chief Financial Officer, every single dollar of that was used to neuter "Moe" in our Save-a-Pound-Cat program.
