Skipping Stone Soap

One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is that we’re always looking for ways to make our products better.

We rarely make the same recipe forever. As I learn more about ingredients and soapmaking, I often revisit existing formulas and make small adjustments when I believe they will improve the experience. Every new batch is an opportunity to apply what I’ve learned along the way.

Some of our soap and shampoo bars have been with us for many years, but they haven’t stood still. The bars may carry the same names and look much the same on the outside, but the ones I make today are quite different from the ones I made a decade ago. In terms of texture, longevity, lather, and even how the scent comes through, years of experience have shaped and refined each formula.

Earlier this year, we introduced an updated Meadow shampoo bar with cationic guar gum to improve slip and manageability. After seeing encouraging results, we began testing the same addition in our Pure Unscented Organic shampoo bars and Arctic Rain shampoo bars.

So far, we’re very happy with the results. The updated Pure shampoo bar is available now, and Arctic Rain will follow once our current inventory has sold through.

Most of these changes are subtle. You may not notice them at first glance, but they’re part of our ongoing effort to create soap and shampoo bars that are a little better with every batch.

I hope you’ll enjoy these small improvements. They’re the result of years of testing, learning, and a belief that even a familiar product can always be made a little better.

There are still many Toronto neighbourhoods I’d love to explore through soap, but creating a new scent takes time. For now, I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life. ❤️

These ones are staying on the shelf a little longer… just to look at them.

Cool pine, warm wood — the smell of sitting by the fire, tall evergreens all around, on a cool summer evening. Inspired by one of Canada’s favourite feelings.

We kept it simple, so it could sit next to a leaf and flowers and feel right at home.

Woke up this morning to clear skies, fresh(er) air, and a gentle breeze — one of those perfect, easy mornings. Our classic Country Cottage bar feels ‘just right’ in this kind of moment.

Here in Southern Ontario, we’re currently under some of the worst air quality in the world. Fine smoke particles land on skin and hair throughout the day, even from a short time outside, and can leave skin feeling irritated, dry, or tight.

If you’ve been out today, it’s worth washing up before bed rather than skipping your usual routine:

• Rinse exposed skin — face, hands, arms
• Wash your hair before it hits the pillow
• Moisturize after to help skin recover

Avoid or limit time outdoors until conditions improve, and stay safe out there. 💛

You know that thing where you want to smell a bar of soap but it’s hidden in a box, or shrink-wrapped in plastic? We didn’t love that either.

So each bar gets two pieces of recycled paper — one wraps two-thirds of it, one holds that in place — leaving just enough window to see, smell, and still keep it off the shelf and out of everyone’s hands.

The pattern is a small nod to what’s inside. Topography lines for the earthy/woody ones. Stone speckles for the terrazzo bars. Ripples for the swirled ones. Kept it simple and monotone on purpose — the bar’s the main character, the wrapper is just there to say a little about it before you open it.

Simple, practical, and quietly doing its job.
