One of the most common concerns we hear about lower face filler is, “but won’t it make my face look wider?”
In reality, it’s usually the opposite.
When the chin lacks projection or support, the lower face can appear heavier, shorter, or less defined overall. And when shadowing develops through areas like the pre-jowl or chin shadow, it can create the illusion of extra weight or fullness that isn’t actually there.
By subtly narrowing and supporting the chin, softening shadowy areas, and improving the transition along the jawline, the face often appears slimmer, softer, and more feminine overall.
It’s one of those treatments patients are almost always surprised by because the result doesn’t look “done.”

The art of a beautiful neuromodulator treatment is treating the face as a whole.
Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin work by reducing muscle contraction, but we also have to consider opposing muscles of the face when looking at overall function. The forehead (frontalis) and the muscles between the brows (glabella) are constantly working in opposition and in support of each other.
Even if you don’t feel like you “use” one of these areas often, it’s still involved in movement.
When only one muscle group is treated, the other can start to compensate. This is where we sometimes see new lines form or movement shift in a way that feels unfamiliar or “off.”
By treating the area as a whole, we can soften contraction while maintaining harmony across the upper face, so results look smooth, consistent, and natural with all expression.

Treating the Temples = Treating the Eyes
When we talk about eye rejuvenation, the under-eyes tend to steal the spotlight.
In practice, however, one of the most common (yet overlooked) treatment areas for improving the eyes is the temples.
Temples act as the frame of the face.
When that frame is full and supported, the eye area looks brighter and more open.
As volume is lost in the temples, the outer brow can start to drop slightly and shadows around the eyes become more noticeable.
These shadows cause the tear trough area to look hollow or tired, even if the under-eyes themselves haven’t changed much.

Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators that soften muscle movement to prevent and treat wrinkles.
→ Botox tends to stay more localized. That makes it great for smaller areas where we want precision and control.
→ Dysport spreads out a little. That extra diffusion can create a softer look in areas where movement is broader.
Neither one is “better” – they’re just different tools.
