A huge mistake I see with acne is people trying to isolate ONE trigger when acne is almost always a combination of multiple things building on top of each other.
Your skin reflects everything.
Inflammation. Stress. Blood sugar imbalance. Digestion. Hormones. Nutrient deficiencies. Poor sleep. Ultra-processed foods. Pore-clogging products. Over-exfoliation. Nervous system stress. Lifestyle habits. It all adds up.
That’s why healing acne usually takes more than just buying a “good” skincare product.
You can have the best skincare routine in the world, but if the body is constantly overloaded internally or the skin barrier is chronically inflamed, the skin is going to struggle to function properly.
And this is exactly why acne is so individualized. Two people can eat the same foods, use the same products, and still react completely differently depending on what else is happening in the body.
The goal isn’t perfection or restriction. It’s learning what’s contributing to inflammation in YOUR body and reducing the overall burden little by little over time.
If you feel like you’ve tried everything and your skin still feels stuck, there’s usually a missing piece that hasn’t been addressed yet. That’s what I help clients uncover through a whole-body + skin-focused approach ✨
If you want help understanding your acne on a deeper level, send me a message or book a consultation with me.
The “before” wasn’t just about my skin.
It was chronic stress.
Constant inflammation.
Poor digestion.
An overwhelmed nervous system.
Blood sugar spikes.
High cortisol.
Bloating.
Survival mode.
The “after” wasn’t from one magic product or overnight fix either.
It was learning how to actually support my body:
* eating enough
* regulating stress
* supporting digestion and gut health
* balancing blood sugar
* sleeping better
* calming my nervous system
* being more consistent instead of aggressive with my skin
Your skin is deeply connected to what’s happening internally.
No, healing your gut and nervous system won’t magically cure every case of acne. But for so many people, it’s a HUGE missing piece that gets overlooked.
When the body feels safer and more supported… the skin often reflects that too.
Acne Awareness Month feels like the perfect time to talk about the things I wish more acne girls actually knew 🤍
If I was restarting my acne journey, one of the first things I’d focus on is movement. Not intense, stressful workouts… but simple movement. Walking, fresh air, stretching, sweating a little, regulating your nervous system, supporting circulation, getting outside, etc.
I also mention detoxification in the video, so just to clarify a bit — movement helps support lymphatic flow and circulation, which supports the body’s natural detoxification systems. Your body already detoxifies on its own, but movement can help support those processes.
And honestly… sometimes intense workouts can actually make acne worse for some people because of the stress and cortisol spike they create.
Your skin doesn’t always need more punishment. Sometimes it needs more support.
This is part 1 of the series, so follow along this month because we’re diving into acne from a whole different perspective 🫶

There’s honestly SO much more to acne than just skincare.
That’s why for Acne Awareness Month I really want to focus on deeper conversations and education around the things people don’t talk about enough.
Things like:
• stress + cortisol
• blood sugar
• hormones
• gut health
• pore-clogging ingredients
• acne-safe makeup/haircare
• supplements
• inflammation
• healing your skin realistically

A lot of people see redness after a treatment and instantly think the skin is “reacting” or getting worse 👀
But acne treatments — especially extractions — can temporarily bring inflammation to the surface because the congestion was already sitting underneath the skin.
This is why understanding acne matters SO much.
Not every red spot is irritation.
Not every breakout is a bad reaction.
If you struggle with acne, your skin is constantly giving clues. You just need to know how to read them 👀
