Having worked as an Early Childhood Educator at daycares and Teacher's Aid and an ABA Therapist through CHEO with Special Needs children and teens, I understand how vital and necessary our gadgets are.
They offer a therapeutic outlet for individuals who compulsively pick at their skin, hair or clothes helping to reduce stress and anxiety by redirecting the urge to fidget or pick in a discreet way. They provide a safe, alternative tactile experience that can help improve fine motor skills and self-awareness, and can also be used by people with ADHD or OCD.
The pickies also offer habit redirection. Others that benefit are people who want to stop smoking or overeating.
Come try our picky pads on November 29th 10 to 4pm at the Optimist Craft show.(301 Sunnyside) Get discounts/lower prices during the craft show!!
We are selling incredible gadgets that are positive for individuals because they provide a safe, constructive, and satisfying sensory outlet for common self-regulation and stimming needs, helping to manage anxiety, improve focus, and redirect potentially harmful behaviors like skin picking.
Key Benefits:
-Safe Alternative to Harmful Behaviors: For many neurodivergent individuals, skin picking (dermatillomania), hair pulling (trichotillomania), or nail biting are body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) used to cope with stress or sensory needs. -Picking pads offer a healthy and non-harmful alternative to satisfy these urges, preventing skin damage, infection, and scarring.
-Anxiety and Stress Relief: The repetitive motion of picking beads or textures out of the silicone provides a calming and grounding effect, which helps to reduce anxiety, release nervous energy, and manage overwhelming emotions.
-Sensory Regulation and Stimming: The unique tactile experience and feedback from the pads help with sensory processing needs and provide a safe form of stimming (self-soothing behaviors). Engaging in this tactile activity can help the user self-regulate in overstimulating environments.
-Improved Focus and Concentration: By keeping hands busy, picking pads can help improve attention and concentration, which is especially beneficial for individuals with ADHD or autism in settings like classrooms, work meetings, or waiting rooms.
Fine Motor Skill Development: The act of picking out small items, often with fingers or tweezers, can help to develop and refine fine motor skills.
-Portability and Discreet Use: These tools are typically compact and portable, making them a discreet way to manage sensory needs and anxiety on the go.
-Repurposing Opportunities: Many picking pads include a string or elastic so the user can thread the picked-out beads to make jewelry or other crafts, adding another layer of engagement and a sense of accomplishment.

Wait...what!!!!! A glow in the dark desk buddy! Yes, we make them!
Why are picking(picky) pads a good product for the Neurodivergents:
Picking pads are used for neurodiverse individuals because they provide a satisfying, alternative sensory outlet for the urge to pick at skin, hair, or nails. They can also serve as a fidget toy to help manage anxiety, stress, and improve focus by providing a calming and repetitive sensory experience.
How picky pads help
Provide an alternative behavior: They offer a designated, non-harmful target for picking behaviors, such as skin, hair, or nail picking, which are common in some neurodiverse conditions.
Offer sensory input: The pads are made of materials with a texture similar to skin, filled with beads that can be picked out. This tactile and sensory stimulation can be calming and reduce anxiety.
Redirect nervous energy: They give a way to keep hands busy and release nervous energy, which is beneficial for stress relief and for those who experience anxiety.
Aid focus: For some, fidgeting with a sensory toy can help increase focus and concentration, especially for individuals with ADHD.
Support stimming: They can be a form of stimming, which helps individuals with autism regulate sensory input and stay calm.
