So excited to be able to share one of my Contessa entries for Salon Magazine Contessa 27.
Although this entry for Master Colorist Of The Year did not make it to the semi finals, I truly am happy with what was created. Lots of prep went into it and I truly had the most amazing team helping bring these looks to life.
To the ones who made it to the semi finals, I can't wait to see what magic you have all created. I'm always in awe of all the artists that put themselves out there for Contessa, and I know the work will be mesmerizing.

Not today's salon visits

If your child complains about not be able to get an appointment to get a balayage, their heatless curls didn't sit well, their curtain bangs are laying well, or basically any hair issues ..... just remind them that back in the 80s, some of us had to sit as still as a status so our mom, who was not a license hairstylist or anything remotely cloe to it, didn't cut our ears while free handing a bowl cut straight bang/ mullet hairstyle with the orange handle kitchen scissors that cut anything & everything, we only got out haircuts when it was a full moon, were told that it didn't hurt when those painful double bobble elastics clicked together and smacked our heads and had to wear long braids in our hair that would reach our butt.

And yes, that red dress, blonde hair bowl cut kid is yours truly!

Heard that Burgundy was gonna be the trending hair color this fall, so we jumped on that trend asap.

After years of global blonding and fashion color, we pivoted in a new direction and decided to start letting this client's stunning natural grey hair become her main focus. And with the big trend of French Grey Blending making its rounds, this was the perfect time to bring it to life for this client who had a 7 month regrowth.
So instead of always covering those natural sparkles, maybe it's time to let them shine!

( Pro tip: when doing this service, it's best to foul every single section and lowlight every 2nd-3rd tip out to create a low maintenance look and a softer grow out. Make sure you also follow the pattern of the salt & pepper growth to make you end result look natural and blended)
