Open Letter From the Heart: Personal Update and a Request for Support
Hi everyone,
I want to start by apologizing for the limited content Iâve shared this year. Since February, weâve been focused on caring for our beloved dog, those online know him as Jasper the WonderPup, who battled nasal cancer until we had to make the difficult decision to let him rest in September. Itâs been a journey filled with both cherished moments and heartbreaking ones, and my attention has been with Jasper and my family through it all.
As life would have it, our challenges didnât end there. Weâre now facing a situation I hadnât anticipated sharing, but one thatâs essential for me to be open about with my community.
To all my online supporters, you know me by my handles, either Jeff Pilon Music or Jeffâs Healing Music. I want to take a moment to thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and encouragement. Whether youâve followed my journey as a musician, connected with me through my content on self-care and music healing, mental health , or simply shared in the spirit of my work, your presence has meant so much to me. Knowing youâre out there, sharing in this journey, has been a true source of strength through some very challenging times, and Iâm grateful for every moment of kindness youâve shown.
To those in the real world, locally in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, many would know me as the street musician with the harmonies and cool setup who used to perform at NoFrills on Brant Street and the Lions Club Farmers Market. These connections I have made mean so much to me. But today, Iâm reaching out to you in a different way. My family and I are going through some profound hardships, and I find myself needing to ask for your support.
Alongside the loss of Jasper, my mother has been diagnosed terminal with aggressive stage 4 lung cancer, and less than 6 months. My father, after five years and multiple surgeries and procedures, is now reaching the end of his own battle with bladder and kidney cancer. Itâs likely he wonât be far behind my mother, and together they are preparing for what lies ahead. This is all happening five hours away from me in Sudbury, Ontario, making it challenging to be there for them.
Unfortunately, due to my health condition, going out to street perform, which used to help bridge gaps in funds when other resources werenât available, is no longer an option. Performing has become too physically taxing, impacting my ability to take care of my home and other responsibilities. Chronic pain from head to toe and fatigue affects me daily, and pushing myself to perform only exacerbates my symptoms, making it unsustainable as a way to support us. Now, without this option, weâre left in a difficult position. Not being beneath direct requesting, I stood with a sign on a median for a couple occasions. Being on my feet, and the weather turning colder proved to make this also unsustainable.
Weâre behind on several essential bills that are critical for staying connected with my parents and handling day-to-day needs. Right now, we urgently need $220 by the 15th of this month for our cellphone bill, which keeps us in touch with my family. Additionally, by the end of the month, weâll need about $220 more to catch up on our cellphone account, and $150 to cover our overdue hydro bill. This doesnât even include just living (groceries, etc.) or funding travel, which alone is $120- $140 in fuel for a round trip to Sudbury.
If youâre in a position to help, donations can be made via PayPal or direct INTERAC EMT using either of my social media account emails:

Even if youâre unable to give financially, sharing this message or keeping us in your thoughts would mean the world to us. I know that times are tough for many, and we would be deeply grateful for any support, no matter how small.
Thank you for listening, for your kindness, and for being part of my life. I hope to bring more music back to you all soon, with gratitude for this incredible community.
Humbly & With all my heart,
Jeff Pilon
