Helping women 30+ uncover the root causes behind skin, period, weight, sleep & energy challenges.

1. Have you ever tested your OMEGA BALANCE?

2. Are you pooping every day - PROPERLY?

3. What are you eating for breakfast?

These are 3 areas of healthy lifestyle that I don’t see spoken about enough online. And they’re so important for hormone health - and in turn clear skin, normal periods, good mood and energy and proper sleep.

Omega balance is a very powerful number for you to understand. And we can measure it. A body that is in the safe zone of omega balance is a body that can heal itself.

Pooping is an awkward topic but I don’t care. Pooping is how we eliminate waste - that includes hormone waste. If you’re not pooping, the waste is just sitting in there. You wouldn’t leave your kitchen garbage just sitting around would you? So why are you letting it happen with your body?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Actually. It can be the make or break for your blood sugar balance for the rest of the day. Balanced blood sugar is the difference between a good sleep and a bad one, good mood or sh*tty mood and properly manufactured hormones vs not.

Questions? Let’s talk about it. Send a DM - which area stood out to you the most?

I don’t believe snacking should be shamed.

We’re busy people. That needs to be acknowledged.

It’s important for women who are trying to care for their hormone health to eat. We need to eat! Bottom line. And sometimes the day can get away from you. Leaving you not much time before you’re prepping your next meal for your family.

Here’s what happened to me today. I had to go pick up my brother at the airport in the mid afternoon. I live in Toronto, so of course there’s stupid amounts of traffic. I ended up being on the road for almost 4 hours.

I had eaten breakfast but by the time I got home it was almost 5pm and I have dinner plans at 7.

I know that my body will go into stress mode when I’m in a calorie deficit. So I thought I should have a small snack to get some good fats in to tide me over until my dinner.

I chose my sourdough bread - which is frozen prior to toasting so that the blood sugar impact isn’t as crazy and for the gut health benefits of resistant starch. I added some peanut butter for good fats. And topped it with some banana pieces for sweetness and some minerals.

Snacking should not be shamed. But it does need to be mindful. Mindlessly shoveling in popcorn or a rice cake because they’re “light snacks” is not ideal.

Not for your blood sugar or nutrient requirements.

Snacks should be deliberate and nourishing, just like a meal.

So don’t feel badly for snacking. Just choose wisely.

Sometimes a “GIRL DINNER” is all you’ve got time for. So make it count.

Last night was a girl dinner kind of night. But because I am a nutritionist specializing in female hormone health, I gotta feed myself at the same standard I teach my clients.

So last nights dinner was a duck egg (I’m allergic to chicken eggs) on sourdough toast . I threw baby arugula on top for extra fibre and bitterness. Plus carrots for fibre and blood sugar support.

Little tip.. I freeze my sourdough bread and then toast it. Changes the structure of the carbohydrate making it more gut supportive and blood sugar stabilizing. Perhaps you’ve heard of a “resistant starch”?

I put olive oil on my toast as well for added good fat and polyphenols. This is going to help the omegas in the egg absorb into my cells.

What’s your favourite girl dinner? Let me know in the comments!

And this is precisely why every client of mine does an omega balance test. It’s so important for you to see how healthy you are at the cellular level.

This one was a big hit in our house.

I like to batch cook on sundays. It’s the best way to prepare loads of healthy grab and go meals for the week when I’m in the office.

Last night I made turkey sausages with veggies. So simple. I literally just chopped the veg I wanted, took the casing off the sausages because it drives me crazy and threw it all in a pan to cook.

It took about 30 mins to do the whole thing.

I fed 3 people dinner and had leftovers for my Monday in the office.

Mic drop.

Yes, this is how easy it is to make balanced, hormone supportive meals at home that the whole family will enjoy.

Yesterday I made chicken thighs with roasted veg.

Preheat the oven to 375.
Chop whatever veg you want.
Season your chicken with whatever you want - I did pink salt, black pepper, garlic and smoked paprika.
Brown the skin in a pan with olive oil (lower heat and let them sit in it so you don’t burn the oil). You can skip this step , it’s not absolutely essential.
Throw everything in the oven.
Take the veg out when they are done. They’ll likely take less time than the chicken.
Enjoy!

As I’m writing this caption I realized I forgot to make a picture saying I cleared the acne I had been dealing with for 20 years too.

It’s amazing what can happen when you get to know your body.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that the essence of how I roll is helping you understand your body and how it has ended up in this chronic state of imbalance.

That’s how I made all of these changes to my health. I understand my body better than anyone. I understand why my body used to be so inflamed. I understand blood sugar and how it affects my hormones and inflammation. I understand cortisol and how being so bloody stressed and under slept can impact my blood sugar and digestion. I understand my digestion and how to support my microbiome to ensure food sensitivities and upset are avoided.

Once you understand your body, choosing foods becomes shockingly easy. Once choosing food becomes easy, frustration towards the unknowns in terms of meals and supplements goes away.

DM me the word BALANCE and I’ll send over the link to download one of my free hormone supportive resources 😊.

Confusing topic - inflammation...

The internet is full of content saying that inflammation is the root cause of women's health issues like skin problems (eg. acne), perimenopause symptoms, menopause symptoms, sleep challenges, weight gain...

This is generally true but I think many people fail to realize is that inflammation has a root cause too.

Inflammation occurs when our bodies are stuck in survival mode/injury mode/constant need for repair mode. Call it whatever you want.

The root cause of inflammation is food, drink and lifestyle. Bottom line. There is no other way to spin it.

If your skin is inflamed (eg. acne) - your diet and lifestyle is at the root cause.
If your hormones are struggling (eg. perimenopause symptoms, painful periods) - your diet and lifestyle is at the root cause.

And I know what you're thinking right now. "I am eating healthy! I am working out! But I'm not getting better!" I know and I hear you loud and clear. You're not doing anything wrong.

99.9999% of the time we can't help ourselves because we are so enveloped in conflicting information, frustration towards ourselves and option overload for food and supplements that it becomes impossible to see the tiny things right in front of our faces.

It's the tiny, consistent things that make a huge difference.

Let's chat about it.
Send me a DM with your biggest "I'm doing everything right and I can't get better" challenge.
