Here's some information about coconut oil and why it's good for body care:
Coconut oil is found in the “meat” of the coconut. The meat is pressed, allowing the oil to be separated from the milk, and then the oil is extracted. It’s very rich in fatty acids (made up of about 65% of them). It is a highly effective moisturizer, but it carries the drawback of being greasy. Therefore, it is best to use on dry, cracked skin. Avoid using it on acne-prone areas on skin as it will hasten its progression. The following is all the ways coconut oil can contribute to your body care:
It has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and anti-bacterial properties that can treat candida & yeast infection as well as soothe irritated skin.
It also contains a high amount of antioxidants that further cleanse skin and provides a protective barrier from irritants.
For hair, it can pe*****te & moisturize deep into the hair shaft while moisturizing the scalp in the process, reducing dandruff. In regards to surface hair, it can control hair frizz and increase hair shine
Has a SPF of 7.1, offering moderate UV protection. It has the highest SPF rating out of all natural ingredients we use for body care.

Here's some information about lye and why it's needed in producing soap:
Lye (aka. Caustic soda or sodium hydroxide) is a crucial ingredient to make soap; you cannot make soap without it. Lye allows oil and water to chemically react with each other to make soap. It looks and feels like salt, but it clumps easily.
Lye used to be produced from boiling wood ashes, but now it is made using table salt, water, and graphite rods. The rods are placed into a saltwater solution, allowing the salt to separate into its primary elements, sodium and chlorine. After that, sodium reacts with the water to make lye crystals. The crystals stick to the rod which can be easily removed, dried, and ready for use.
On its own, lye is dangerous if it makes contact with skin or you inhale too much of its fumes. Its pH can reach a level of 14, which is higher than bleach (max.13). However, it is completely gone after saponification (curing soap). It takes about a month for the saponification process to be complete.
