Most people misunderstand Bowen Therapy before they ever experience it.
It looks simple. It feels subtle. And because of that, it’s often underestimated.
But the body doesn’t respond only to intensity—it responds to information. And sometimes the most meaningful change comes from the quietest input.
Bowen Therapy works with precise, gentle movements and strategic pauses to encourage the nervous system to reset patterns of tension held in the fascia and soft tissue. It’s not about forcing release. It’s about creating the conditions where the body can reorganize itself.
If you’ve been dealing with persistent tightness, recurring discomfort, or the feeling that your body keeps going back to the same pattern—this is often where deeper systems are involved, not just the local area of pain.
And this is why myths matter.
Because when we assume:
• it has to be intense to work
• pain equals progress
• treatment should feel like “more is better,”
We can miss what the body is actually asking for.
Bowen is different in its approach—but not in its intention. The goal is still the same: reduce restriction, improve function, and support the body in moving with more ease.
The difference is how we get there.
If this post helped clarify things, save it for later—and share it with someone who thinks bodywork has to be painful to be effective.

Okay but can we talk about how the body stores stress in the MOST inconvenient places?
For some people it’s the shoulders.
For others? It’s the jaw and pelvic floor holding on for dear life. Honestly, once you understand how connected the body is, it starts making a LOT more sense.
I see this pattern in clinic all the time:
✨ jaw clenching
✨ headaches & neck tension
✨ tight hips
✨ pelvic floor dysfunction
✨ feeling like you can never fully relax
What does this mean though Kristen? It means your nervous system, fascia, breath, and deep core system are all constantly communicating with each other. So when the body gets stuck in stress mode, it often creates tension patterns from the jaw all the way down to the pelvis. Which is why treating only the symptom doesn’t always get to the root of the problem.
This is why Bowen Therapy and TMJ-focused treatments can be such a game changer. Sometimes the body doesn’t need more force — it needs help getting out of the guarding mode so it can finally let go of tension patterns it’s been stuck in for years.
Also… if you noticed yourself unclenching your jaw while reading this, you’re not alone 🤝😂

Fertility is often spoken about like it’s purely hormonal, but the body doesn’t actually work in separate systems.
Your nervous system, fascia, stress load, sleep, digestion, pelvic tension, and emotional safety all influence how your body functions — including reproduction.
Bowen Therapy takes a very different approach than “pushing the body to perform.” It works with gentle, precise moves over muscle, fascia, and nerve pathways, followed by intentional pauses that allow the nervous system to process and reorganize.
From a fertility perspective, one of the key focuses is helping the body shift out of chronic stress physiology and into a more regulated state where it doesn’t feel like it’s constantly in survival mode.
This matters because when the body is bracing or dysregulated long-term, reproductive function is often one of the first systems to down-prioritize.
Bowen work may also help influence pelvic balance and tension patterns through its effects on the nervous system, including areas connected to the pelvic floor and pudendal nerve function. When the pelvis is chronically tight or guarded, it can affect circulation, comfort, and overall functional balance in the reproductive system.
This isn’t about “fixing fertility.” It’s about creating conditions where the body may feel more supported to do what it is already designed to do.
Gentle work. Deep regulation. Whole-body connection.
Save this if you’re on your fertility journey, or share it with someone who needs a different perspective on what their body might be asking for.

Did you buy a Sanakey?? Read this!!
From Chris, the guy who sells the devices:
Big news for your clients who have sanakeys!
The Sanakey Basic Course has had a full rebuild. Cleaner, clearer, and easier to follow than ever. If your clients report using their device in the same program, the same way, now's a great time to get them to jump back in and get the most from their device.
Also about to launch - the Sanakey Protocol Library
A growing collection of written treatment guides covering specific conditions from simple to complex (21 so far...). Step-by-step protocols they can follow session by session, built specifically for sanakey users.
For those of you wondering what a Sanakey even is, it's a Frequency Specific Microcurrent device used to help manage pain, nervous system dysregulation, and much more. It is the patient model of the Physiokey I use to treat my patients... One of the most useful items I have. If you're curious about getting your own device, use the link below and tell them I sent you 😁
