That’s a wrap on 2021! Our first summer of many and it was a huge success thanks to all of you lovely people !☺️

Happy belated National Coming Out Day!
🌈 In a world with so much hatred, everyone should be allowed to love 🌈
The getaway cabin is a safe place for all and we have decorative pieces throughout the cottage to remind visitors of that. On behalf of yesterday’s National Coming Out Day we thought we would display some of our favourite rainbow items.

This post is not to advertise the beauty of the cabin and more to share the beauty and appreciation of the people who helped us create it. There are no truer words than “it takes a village”.
We purchased this cabin with a lot of dreams accompanied with a lot of anxieties about making those dreams come true. However, those anxieties were diminished when we saw the support of our friends and family. Not only did their hard work turn the cabin into what it is today, but their confidence in us during the process have really made us feel like this is all possible.
If you’re wondering if getting your own cabin is for you, the only advise I can give you is let the people who love you help. You will see the joy of the relationships shine into your new home and it will make you smile every day.

Pluviophile- someone that loves or takes comfort from rain.
If you are comforted by rain, or get excited by a looming storm, trust me, our screened in space is where you need to be. Though this room is great to shade you on sunny days, nothing compares to a rainy day with a good book and a cup of tea in this place.

What’s better then a sleepover ?! Nothing !
We decided to include this loft style bunkbed at the getaway cabin for a few reasons:
1. It is another double bed for couples coming up for a weekend away.
2. It creates a room perfect for children to sleep and have fun in.
3. SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES.
With another VHS tv in this bedroom too, it’s a little escape within the home for children or for someone who needs some alone time.

Though this space may need a little TLC, this fire pit is one of the most magical places to be at the getaway cabin. Not just from the beauty of the fire and the joy of the company you can have there with you, but from the beautiful stars you can see on a clear night.
