Flat Gut After 50
Hi, I am a former underweight, sickly teen who learned how to build himself into a paratrooper, marathon runner and kickboxer.
I am helping middle aged people flatten their stomachs and move like 20 year-olds.

Flash back Friday. At age 52, handing out some correction to Canadian army reserve infantry course. Sometimes the guys just need a little tough love to keep them on track.
Cardio is good in your older age, but so is agility. (Don't try this without healthcare advice.)
The kneel to stand moves. Work up to this before you try it.
Don't try this without medical approval. Advanced standing from the kneeling position at age 67.

64 year old man stands up from the ground in one motion.
60+ year old rolls up from the ground to standing. Watch the "Steveo Standup" as 60 plus year business man, rolls up from the ground without use of hands.

Blog 1: The Sit-to-Rise Test: What Getting Off the Floor Says About Your Longevity
Intro
Most people think longevity is about how many years you live. In reality, it’s about how well you can move, think and enjoy those years. One of the simplest ways to check your longevity in minutes is the Sit-to-Rise Test.
The Sit-to-Rise Test (SRT)
This test looks at how easily you can get down to the floor and back up without using your hands, knees or furniture.
How to do it
Stand in an open space with bare feet.
Cross your legs loosely.
Slowly lower yourself down to a seated position on the floor without using your hands, arms, or knees for support.
Now stand back up, again without using your hands, arms, or knees.
Have someone watch you, or film yourself, to count how many times you use your hands or lose balance.
Scoring (simplified)
Start with 10 points.
Subtract 1 point each time:
You use a hand on the floor or leg,
You use a knee for support,
You lose balance significantly.
A score of 8–10 suggests good functional fitness and lower mortality risk compared to lower scores. Lower scores show you where to focus your training.
What to do with your results
If your score is:
8–10: Maintain it with regular strength, balance and mobility training.
5–7: Great opportunity to improve. Focus on hip mobility, leg strength, and core stability.
0–4: Time to prioritize safe, guided training to improve strength and balance.
Next steps
If you’d like a structured way to improve your Sit-to-Rise score and support healthy ageing, my Sit-to-Rise Test Longevity Program guides you step-by-step from your current score towards stronger, more confident movement.

This test can predict your early death.
It is called the Sit-to-Rise Test. (SRT).
In the 1990's, Brazilian researchers studied over 4,000 people with the Sit-to-Stand Test. They found that higher the SRT score, the higher chances of longevity.
The most fittest, healthiest people tend to be those who can get up off of and settle down to the ground easily. They also are not afraid of falling down.
In my early 60's, it got harder and harder to stand up smoothly.
That's when it occurred to me that most of my strength and cardio training was lacking something. Namely, greater core strength, hip mobility and balance.
In a few weeks, even at age 67, I was springing back to my feet in a couple of easy movements.
If you are someone who wants to sit and stand like a 20 year old without pain, falling or looking like you are "over the hill," this might be for you.
I am launching the Sit-to-Rise Mastery (R) course to help you stand from the cross-legged position step-by-step
--and it's almost ready.
