☀️🐾 Keeping Your Dog Cool This Summer 🐾☀️
Hot summer days can be tough on our dogs, but a few simple precautions can help keep them safe and comfortable.
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water and bring a portable bowl on walks or adventures.
🌅 Walk during the cooler parts of the day—early morning or later in the evening.
🐾 Protect those paws! Pavement, asphalt, sand, and artificial turf can become much hotter than the air. If it's too hot for the back of your hand after 7 seconds, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade and avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day.
💦 Cool your dog's paws and lower legs with cool (not ice-cold) water after activity. A kiddie pool or sprinkler is another great way for water-loving dogs to cool off.
🧊 Frozen Kongs, lick mats, and dog-safe frozen treats provide both enrichment and a refreshing snack.
🚗 Never leave your dog unattended in a parked vehicle—even with the windows cracked. The temperature inside can rise rapidly, putting your dog at risk of heat stroke.
🐶 Flat-faced breeds (like Bulldogs and French Bulldogs), senior dogs, puppies, overweight dogs, and dogs with heart or respiratory conditions may be more sensitive to heat.
⚠️ Watch for signs of heat stress:
• Excessive panting
• Heavy drooling
• Bright red gums
• Weakness
• Vomiting
• Stumbling or collapse
Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you suspect your dog is overheating, move them to a cool area, begin cooling them with cool water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.
A little planning goes a long way toward keeping our best friends safe so they can enjoy every summer adventure! 💜🐾

🐾🔥 National Pet Fire Safety Day 🔥🐾
We all have a fire safety plan for our families—but have you included your pets?
A few simple steps can make a big difference:
🏡 Keep collars and leashes in an easy-to-access location.
📋 Include your pets in your family's emergency escape plan.
🚪 Know who is responsible for each pet if you need to leave quickly.
🐾 Place a pet rescue window decal on your home to let firefighters know pets may be inside.
📱 Keep your veterinarian's phone number and emergency contacts readily available.
Our pets depend on us to keep them safe. Taking a few minutes today to include them in your emergency plan could make all the difference.
Stay safe, everyone ❤️

Something you may not know about your dog's massage therapist...
When I'm not helping dogs feel their best through massage therapy, you'll often find me behind a camera 📷💜
Photography has always been a passion of mine, especially when it comes to dogs. From brand-new puppies to senior dogs, and even those bittersweet end-of-life sessions, every stage tells a beautiful story worth preserving.
Today, I had the pleasure of photographing this handsome man, Jeff. Besides being absolutely stunning, he's a rescue who clearly hit the jackpot with a family that loves him beyond measure... and he is 100% a very good boy🐾
If you'd like to see a few more of Jeff's photos (and follow along with my photography adventures), I'd love for you to check out and follow me at Rooted Photography 💜 They will be up there in the next couple days!

Not every dog enjoys a large daycare with dozens of dogs.
That's why I've chosen to keep daycare small.
With only two daycare spaces available each day, your dog enjoys:
🐾 Individual attention
🐾 Structured group play
🐾 One-on-one interaction
🐾 Healthy dog-friendly snacks
🐾 Scheduled rest and nap time
🐾 A fully fenced yard
It's a home away from home, where every dog is known—not just supervised.
Book online to reserve your dog's spot!

🐾 See Me Sunday 🐾
Meet Mac ❤️
Some dogs spend their lives giving everything to others before they ever get the chance to simply be someone's beloved pet.
For the first few years of her life, Mac, a 4-year-old English Bulldog, was used as a breeding dog in a commercial kennel. After raising litter after litter, she's finally getting the opportunity she's always deserved... to be loved just for being Mac.
And what a girl she is.
Mac has never met a stranger. She greets everyone with a wagging tail, a squishy bulldog smile, and a hopeful look that says, "Will you rub my belly?" She absolutely adores people and has enough love to fill every room she walks into.
She's house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, loves car rides, and is happiest curled up beside her people. She's wonderfully gentle with children and has the goofy, lovable bulldog personality that will keep you smiling every single day.
Life hasn't been easy on Mac, though.
Years of breeding and untreated bilateral hip dysplasia have left her with osteoarthritis and weakness in her hind end. She'll need lifelong medical management, including medication, joint support, and physiotherapy to help keep her comfortable and mobile.
But here's the thing...
Mac doesn't know she's "special needs."
She only knows she loves people.
She only knows she wants to be close to you.
She only knows she's finally getting the chance to live the life every dog deserves.
Her medical needs may make some people scroll past her...
I hope they don't.
Because dogs like Mac have an incredible way of giving back every ounce of love they're shown.
Mac is looking for a family willing to see past the arthritis and see the amazing dog underneath.
📍 Fostered in St. Marys, Ontario
🐾 Available through K9 Safe Space
And on a personal note... I'd absolutely love to see Mac adopted somewhere in the Norfolk or Brant area so I could help support her journey with canine massage therapy. Dogs with arthritis and muscle weakness can often benefit from appropriate bodywork alongside veterinary care and physiotherapy, and I'd be thrilled to cheer this sweet girl on.

Summer is made for adventures!
Whether you're heading to the cottage, hiking a new trail, exploring a beach, or simply taking longer evening walks, remember that these activities ask more of your dog's body than their normal routine.
Just like us, dogs benefit from gradually increasing activity rather than jumping into long days of exercise after a quieter season.
If your dog is staying active this summer, massage therapy can help support healthy muscles, flexibility, and overall comfort so they're ready for the next adventure.
Where is your favourite place to explore with your dog? 🌲🐾

There’s a reason bulldogs move the way they do—they're built differently!
Whether it's an English Bulldog or a French Bulldog, these breeds have a unique body structure that gives them their unmistakable look. Their broad chest, compact frame, shorter legs, and powerful shoulders all contribute to the way they walk and carry themselves.
Because of that unique conformation, bulldogs often place extra demands on the muscles that support their:
🐾 Neck
🐾 Shoulders
🐾 Back
🐾 Core
🐾 Hindquarters
Keeping those muscles healthy is just as important as caring for their joints.
Routine exercise, maintaining a healthy body weight, appropriate conditioning, and regular veterinary care all play important roles in helping bulldogs stay comfortable and active.
Canine massage can also be a valuable part of a bulldog's wellness routine by helping support healthy muscles, flexibility, circulation to soft tissues, and overall comfort.
Every bulldog is an individual, but one thing is always true...
Behind those wrinkles, snorts, and stubborn personalities is an incredible dog that's absolutely worth taking care of 💜🐾
All kinds of kinds 🥰
