Today felt a little bit like opening night at the theatre.

My very first official Matthew J Hair Atelier client… and it just so happened to be our own local celebrity, Joe Macleod.

There is something profoundly meaningful about someone with visibility, presence, and public trust choosing to sit in your chair… especially when that chair now lives in a new chapter of your life. Joe entrusted me to create an updated look. Not just a trim. Not just a refresh. An evolution.

We softened the edges, refined the silhouette, adjusted the tone to catch the light just right. Polished, current, camera-ready, but still unmistakably him. That’s always the goal. Hair should feel like you, just a half step ahead of where you were yesterday.

As I build this Atelier model, rooted in intention, artistry, and a slower, more thoughtful rhythm, I couldn’t have asked for a more gracious and supportive first guest. Joe showed up with trust, openness, and the kind of collaborative energy that reminds me why I’ve loved this craft for nearly three decades.

Grateful beyond words.
