Are you ready to ditch the diet?

Are you ready to embrace a lifestyle that empowers and inspires you daily?

By shifting your mindset from "I have to" or "I can't", to "I want to" or "I choose to", you will feel more positive about the changes that you are making.

Rather than focusing on what you are giving up, remind yourself of the rewards that you are receiving from your healthy lifestyle.

We can not overstate it.

You will gain so much more than what you are giving up.

Picture this.....

You wake up feeling rejuvenated and well-rested rather than tired and relying on caffeine, sweets, and carbs to fuel your morning.

You select an outfit without fear or judgment. Instead, you feel confident and happy in your own skin.

You choose foods that make you feel satisfied and energized rather than leaving you feeling sluggish and bloated.

You choose to exercise because it makes you feel good, not as punishment for what you ate.

You enjoy daily treats without experiencing feelings of guilt or shame. You savor each bite and do not feel compelled to eat to excess or discomfort.

Eating healthy is an act of self-love, and the rewards are endless, but if you approach your lifestyle with a deprivation mindset, it is easy to overlook the benefits along the way.

A healthy lifestyle changes your body, but, more importantly, it changes your mind attitude and your mood.

Can You Actually Suppress Your Appetite?

Are you trying to suppress your appetite? Well, yes you can! There are various healthy and natural ways to suppress your appetite while still eating enough food. You may find you don’t snack on junk food as much, or you may start eating smaller portions.

Here are some ways you can suppress your appetite.

Drink A Glass Of Water Before Eating
About 10-20 minutes before you are about to sit down to eat, have a glass of water. Water can help promote feelings of fullness, which suppresses your appetite. You can also have a glass of water after eating if you still feel hungry. This way, you don’t feel the need to go back for seconds or thirds to try to make yourself full.

Eat High-Fibre Foods
Fibre does not break down like other foods. It stays in your body for longer, which can help keep you feel fuller for longer. Try to incorporate more high-fibre foods into your everyday meals. These include whole grains, vegetables, almonds, chia seeds, and apples, to name a few.

Maintain Low Stress Levels
Binge or comfort eating tends to happen when you are stressed. You may not even notice that you are overeating and end up feeling extremely bloated or full. Try to manage your stress levels. Or, if you notice that during certain times of the year you get stressed, try to keep healthy snacks around that will make you feel fuller faster. This way, you won’t be overeating and you can satisfy and suppress your appetite.

Exercise Before A Meal
Exercising before a meal actually releases hormones that tells your body it is not hungry. Doing a HIIT or cardio workout before eating can help you to feel fuller, suppressing your appetite for a while.

If you are struggling to suppress your appetite, try one of our Ultra Thin One, Ultra Thin Two or Ultra Thin Three to help.

What is the difference between flexibility and mobility?

Flexibility training refers to the actual length of the muscle and soft tissue, like tight hamstrings.

Mobility training is more effective than only performing static streching because it focuses on movement and your motor control throught the movement.

Kimchi-Tofu Soup with Sesame & Egg
Serves 4, Serving Size: 1 3/4 cups soup, 3/4 tsp. sesame oil & 3/4 tsp. sesame seeds, 1 1/2 protein, 1 vegetable, 1 fat

3 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1 tablespoon garlic paste
2 teaspoons ginger paste
4 cups lower-sodium vegetable or no-chicken broth
2 cups kimchi, drained
2 cups classic coleslaw mix
1 (14 ounce) package extra-firm tofu, drained and cubed (3/4-inch)
5 medium scallions, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Step 1
Heat 2 tablespoons canola oil in a medium Dutch oven over medium heat. Stir in garlic paste and ginger paste; cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in broth, kimchi and coleslaw mix; bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and add tofu, scallions and soy sauce; cook, stirring occasionally, until the tofu is heated through, about 5 minutes.

Step 2
Meanwhile, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon canola oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Crack eggs, 1 at a time, into the pan; cook to desired doneness, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes for a runny yolk and 3 1/2 to 4 minutes for a firmer yolk.

Step 3
Divide the soup among 4 bowls. Top each with a fried egg. Drizzle with sesame oil and top with sesame seeds.

"Learn who you are. Unlearn who they told you to be." S Mcnutt

What are you unlearning in 2023?

Ignoring personal boundaries to please others.

Pretending to be okay instead of asking for support.

Defining self worth by productivity.

Allowing negative self-talk to go unchallenged.

Seeking external validation rather than self acceptance.

Relying on unhealthy coping measures to manage stress and/or difficult emotions.

Measuring personal success by comparing against the achievements of others.

Restricting food or using exercise as a punishment for what you ate.

Sound familiar?

You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way.

If you are resolving to take better care of yourself and improve your health, we will offer the support, accountability and direction to help make your resolution a reality.

What Foods Should Be On Your Grocery List

Going to the grocery without your grocery list can be stressful. If you are trying to follow a healthy diet, you don’t want to just grab anything green and add it to your basket. And, the ice cream and chocolate aisles may be even more tempting if you don’t have a strict list.

Here are some foods that you should always have on your grocery list.

Eggs not only make the perfect breakfast, but they can be added to other meals. You can make scrambled eggs, breakfast burritos, or muffins with them. And they are a great non-meat source of protein. Always make sure your fridge is stocked with eggs!

Lean Proteins
Lean proteins, like chicken, turkey, or fish, should be in your cart. You need protein in order for your muscles to grow and for your body to function. Lean proteins contain less fat than others, which is the ideal option if you are watching your weight.

No matter what, you can incorporate vegetables into every meal. Choose vegetables depending on which ones you like. You shouldn’t be buying kale just because it’s popular if you won’t eat much of it. If you do want to try some new vegetables, look for a tasty-looking recipe and get any vegetables needed for it, even if you’ve never tried them.

It is normal to get sugar cravings. Your first thought may be to grab a piece of chocolate or grab your favourite savory snack, but fruit can satisfy your sugar cravings too. Always have fruit on your list, particularly your favourites, so you get your daily sugar intake and enjoy delicious snacks.

Seasonings & Spices
Seasonings and spices help to add flavour to your food. You can use them in soups, on meats, and on any grains. You can also add them to drinks. Since they have a low calorie count, they can help you stay on track with a healthy diet as they won’t be contributing to your calorie count significantly.

Why do you need a daily mobility routine?

Everyone getting started with a new fitness program has a personal goal: to lose weight, get stronger, run faster or fit into old jeans again. Mobility is a very important component of fitness programs.

Adding mobility training to your excercise program will help enable you to increase and maintain your full range of motion so your exercises are more effective and you get better results from training!

Balsamic Mushroom Pasta
Serves 4, Serving Size: 1 1/2 cups, 1 protein, 1 starch, 1 fat

8 ounces whole-wheat spaghetti
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
20 ounces mushrooms, sliced (about 8 cups)
3 large cloves garlic, grated
1 teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon salt
1/4-1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
¾ cup low-sodium vegetable broth
½ cup dry white wine
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Step 1
Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package directions. Drain.

Step 2
Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high. Working in batches, add mushrooms and cook, stirring, until all the mushrooms have softened and lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Add garlic, thyme, salt and crushed red pepper to taste; cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add broth, wine and vinegar; bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is reduced by half, about 5 minutes. Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan, tossing to coat. Remove from heat; stir in nutritional yeast and sprinkle with parsley.

Statistically New Year’s Resolutions begin to fizzle within the first few weeks of January.

If you are struggling to lose weight, then there’s a good chance that you’re making a few (or all) of these mistakes...

❌ Eliminating entire food groups rather than focusing on balancing nutrition.

Cutting out carbohydrates is a popular diet trend but unless you can see yourself eating that way for the rest of your life, it’s not going to promote lasting results.

❌ Focusing on cardio and avoiding strength training.

Lifting weights and/or resistance training will help you build and maintain muscle while dieting. The more muscle mass you have the more calories you burn.

❌ Focusing on restriction rather than portion control.

Labelling foods as “bad” or “forbidden” or attempting to eliminate your favorite foods from your diet can lead to feelings of deprivation and binge episodes. Learning to enjoy treats in moderation is an essential part of long-term weight maintenance.

❌ Striving for perfection rather than focusing on consistency.

If you are expecting perfection then you are setting yourself up for failure. Following healthy habits MOST of the time and not falling prey to the “all or nothing” mentality will help you move towards your goal.

❌ Waiting on motivation rather than focusing on establishing a healthy routine that feels automatic.

Motivation will get you started but it can be fleeting so you shouldn't expect to feel highly-motivated for your entire journey. Instead, focus on creating healthy habits and following them consistently so that they become second-nature and no longer require willpower to perform.

❌ Focusing on results rather than action steps.

Circling your goal date on your calendar is an exciting moment but “a goal without a plan, is just a wish”. Focus on how you are going to achieve your weight loss goal rather than focusing on when you will achieve it.

5 Drinks That Can Help You Lose Weight

Did you know that certain drinks can help you lose weight? And what’s better than enjoying a delicious drink and not worrying about the extra calories or whether or not it’s good for you. Certain drinks can also provide you with nutritional benefits as well.

Here are 5 drinks that can help you lose weight.

Green Tea
Green tea contains loads of antioxidants and powerful nutrients. It can also be considered one of the most effective drinks for weight loss. The drink can increase fat burning and boost your metabolism, allowing your body to burn more calories throughout the day. If you are on a weight loss journey, have green tea on its own without anything added, like sugar or milk.

That’s right! Coffee can help you lose weight. So if you are an everyday coffee drinker, enjoy! It can reduce your energy intake and boost your metabolism. However, when you add sugar and milk to your coffee, that’s it when it gets unhealthy. Try finding a coffee that you enjoy by itself to reap all of the benefits caffeine offers.

Regardless of whether or not you are trying to lose weight, you should be drinking significant amounts of water everyday. But in terms of weight loss, having a glass of water before a meal can help promote feelings of fullness. You may find it easier to stay in a caloric deficit due to less feelings of hunger.

Celery Juice
Celery juice offers many nutritional benefits. It can be considered a detox juice since it is rich in antioxidants and helps flush out toxins. It will help detox your liver, allowing your body to lose weight with fewer issues.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Adding a spoon of apple cider vinegar to your drink can promote weight loss. It decreases insulin levels which improves metabolism, suppresses appetite, and burns fat.
