Aanii,

Maazi-Aanikwedokwe ndishnikaaz, mayeengun ndodem, Neyaashiinigmiing ndonjiba.

Greetings, my name is Kyanna, my clan is of the wolf, and I come from Neyaashiinigmiing. It is with great pleasure that I formally introduce myself as the Indigenous Children's Wellness Coordinator at M'Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Center in Owen Sound. Recently, I have graduated at Georgian College for the educational assistance apprenticeship program. I am feeling very excited and eager to fulfill this role, and to work with this lovely community.

The objective of this program is to help families understand what trauma is and how it affects children throughout development. Together as a community, with the engagement of this program; what I would like to do is provide children and their families the tools/strategies, and resources to help build life long skills. Skills that will be strengthened are building resiliency, community engagement, healthy nutrition and lifestyle techniques, confidence builder's, and to strengthen the ability to foster good relationships, as well as setting healthy boundaries. With these goals that will be actively working towards, I believe we can achieve a happy, full-filled, pro-social lifestyle as a team!

To achieve these goals, I will be offering interactive and engaging activities, once we can safely do so according to the COVID-19 protocol. Activities include:

-Arts and Crafts
-Story telling
-Land-based outdoor events
-Traditional medicine teachings
- and so many more. The sky is the limit!

If you are interested or are looking for more information please feel free to contact me.

Please join me. The door is always open!
