About 25 Next'ers made it out on Saturday, December 22nd to help out St Vincent De Paul with their Christmas Hampers for the less fortunate in PG. From 7:30 - 1:30 our volunteers helped out both with organizing everything on site and in actually doing the deliveries. Thank you again to everyone who lent a hand. Merry Christmas!

Earth Day Cleanup
Sunday April 22 @ 11:00am

Join us on Earth Day 2012, as The Nextwork's members all pitch in and help with a little spring cleaning for our city. We have volunteered to clean up the roadside boulevards near the Rotary Soccer Fields (A rectangle from 15th Ave to 18th Ave and from Ospika to Foothills). Please wear work clothes and comfortable shoes. The City of Prince George will provide garbage bags, and work gloves for those that don't have them. We tie up our bags once full and City crews will come by later that afternoon to haul them away.

We are looking for at least 20 volunteers, but the more helping hands we have the better. Please RSVP today so we know how many people will be attending.

Mixed Slo-Pitch Team
May & June 2012

The Nextwork is looking for softball players! We are organizing a team to compete in the PG Mixed Rec Slo-Pitch League for 2012.

The season runs from early May to early July (exact dates TBA). Games are held 2 nights per week on either Tue/Wed/Thu at either 6:00 or 7:30. There are two weekend tournaments as well, one at the start of the season and one at the end. Fields include Van Bien, Duchess, Strathcona, and Edgewood.

It is a recreational level, co-ed league, and with a Rover there are 10 positions on the field at once. The team roster is 16 players, and a minimum of 3 females must be on the field at all times, so we likely need at least 5 female players on the roster. If you don't think you could make the majority of games but are interested in playing sometimes, please click "Contact Us" on our Meetup site and request to be added to our Spare List. We would also encourage all NEXTers to come out and cheer on the team throughout the season. The schedule will be posted on our Meetup and pages once announced.

Cost per player is $60 and that includes approx. 20 games, team shirt, plus the bats and bases the team has to purchase. Players provide their own baseball gloves and the league provides each team a slo-pitch strike-zone mat and a bag of softballs at the start of the season. Spares would just have to pay the cost of their team shirt (approx. $20).

The first 16 people to RSVP for the team on www.meetup.com/thenextwork will make the roster (as long as we don't have more male players than are allowed). If the roster is full and you still want to play fulltime (not as a spare), please email us. If we have enough interest, we may try to fill two teams.

Spring 2012 Cocktail Reception
Thursday May 17 @ 7:00pm

We are happy to announce The Nextwork's third social reception...this time hosted at the offices of Tourism Prince George. For those of you that have never been in the Tourism PG premises in the Via Rail Building, it is a beautifully designed space which will be a great spot for our members to meet and network with one another.

Tickets are $15 each and include your admission and food served throughout the evening. Music and a no-host bar will be provided with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic menu options. Tickets will be available at both Tourism Prince George and Brownridge & Company Insurance, starting on April 16. Our last two socials were both sold out, so be sure to get your tickets early, and remember to RSVP on our Meetup group! We have chosen a slightly more intimate venue this time, so there are only a total of 75 tickets available (similar to our first event at Hummus Brothers).

We hope you can join us for another great evening with the young professionals of Prince George.

Dog Day Afternoon
Saturday May 26 @ 1:00pm

All Dog Lovers in The Nextwork are invited to bring their four-legged friends for a Saturday afternoon at Moore's Meadow Park in late May. Bring your dogs, family and friends and feel free to bring blankets, snacks, lawn chairs, frisbees etc and enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine.

Everyone can meet at 1:00pm in the upper field by the parking area on 1st Avenue, and then we will take the short walk to the main meadow area below. Our members can spend a couple of hours relaxing and socializing (maybe some softball practice?), while our dogs can wear themselves out playing with one another in the park. Moore's Meadow is an official off-leash dog park.

If mother nature does not cooperate and it is pouring rain that morning, then we will advise about rescheduling to the following afternoon.
