I love my job. In fact , I’m obsessed. So obsessed that I tend to get tunnel vision and only focus on work and Addison and totally forget about myself.

This chapter of my life has me taking a few deep breathes, slowing down a bit and truly taking care of myself. I can’t pour from an empty cup. Living that burn out life is no longer for me!

It took me 21 years in this industry to finally feel like I can stop the grind and find that elusive bitch, “balance” in my life!

Listen, if accepting gratuity works for you and your business…. Great. But when I decided to go out on my own 3 years ago, tipping was the first thing to go.

As a hair extension and hair loss replacement specialist, there are two parts to every service. The cost of the actual hair and the cost of my labour. I group these together to create customized packages for each guest. Technically, you should only tip on the labour not product cost. And I’d crawl out of my own skin when guests would ask ME how much to leave as a tip🫠

So when I opened up on my own, I took a hard look at the cost of running my business and I priced my services accordingly.

Listen, I’m a grinder. I will outwork anyone around me. For so many years I had to be the first one at the salon in the morning and last one to leave at night. My productivity behind my chair was the only metric I used to measure my worth. So I grinded.

I missed my high school best friends wedding to teach a class for a brand that ultimately treated me like I was just a number anyway.

I missed countless girls trips, family get togethers and celebrations because I was too afraid to let my numbers dip from missing a day or two of work.

Going out on my own behind my chair finally gave me the space to breathe. To create a schedule that really allows me to LIVE. My worth is no longer connected to financial numbers , and guess what? Those numbers have exploded!

By being more intentional about how I spend my time behind the chair, I’ve created space for new and wonderful guests who are aligned with my values and purpose. Im more relaxed, doing my very best work with people I enjoy every day!

Living the life I dreamed about , surrounded by those I love. Who knew this was possible?💁🏻‍♀️
