Salon students spend so much of their time learning how to care for others, helping clients feel comfortable, confident and cared for. 💛

On , this is your reminder to save some of that care for yourself too.

Take a break, get outside, call a friend or do something that helps you reset, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

What’s one small thing you’re doing for yourself today?

Just look at this gorgeous training salon. ✨

Classes are done for the summer so it may be quiet right now, but these chairs won’t stay empty for long.

Soon, a new group of Sydney salon students will be here to learn, practice, have fun, make friends and fill the space with creativity.

Will one of these stations be yours? 👀

✨ Everyone has their thing.

From hair to skincare to client care, every skill has something in common: helping people leave the salon feeling confident.

While our name is changing, what matters most stays the same:

Our campuses and communities
Our programs and instructors
Our commitment to student success

This change reflects our continued growth as part of Willis College and strengthens our presence across Atlantic Canada and beyond.

We’re excited for what’s ahead, and proud of everything that brought us here!

One day you're thinking about beauty school.

A few months later you're learning hands-on, working with clients, and building the skills for a career.

Many of these students are preparing to graduate. This September, you could start where they did.

Beauty is part art, part science!

Some of our students recently put chemistry into action by testing the acidity and alkalinity of different substances and products using red cabbage as a natural pH indicator.

Understanding the science behind hair and skincare helps future professionals make informed decisions for their clients and build confidence in their craft.

Learning looks a little different every day at the salon!

Inclusion on our campuses is something we have to build every single day. 🏳️‍🌈✨

As we celebrate Pride Month, we're reminded that our inclusive communities were built by courageous local trailblazers. From the historic streets of Halifax to the close-knit communities of Cape Breton, our history is one of grassroots advocacy.

Halifax: In 1988, 75 people marched in the city's first Pride March. Facing discrimination and safety threats, some wore paper bags over their heads to protect their identities. Today, that brave protest has grown into a festival welcoming over 50,000 people.

Cape Breton: Organizing grew out of crisis and compassion during the 1990s AIDS epidemic. Early advocacy focused on healthcare and safe spaces, leading to Sydney’s first official Pride Parade in 2000.

Help us keep building. As students, faculty, and staff, let’s honour the past by continuing the work of inclusion, education, and mutual support on our campuses.

Stay tuned as we share upcoming campus Pride events, resources, and ways you can get involved.
