She asked for a dramatic cat eye. I gave her something slightly different. 👀

And this is exactly why I don’t believe in choosing your lash map from a picture you saved on Pinterest.

Rae has almond-shaped, slightly hooded eyes with a fairly neutral-to-lifted outer corner. Her natural lashes are fine-medium in density and grow mostly straight with a subtle outward direction.

She also loves using lash clusters when she wants more drama, so for her very first Volume Set, she wanted something bold enough to give her that same depth and definition.

Her initial thought? More length toward the ends = cat eye.

But here’s what I was seeing as her lash artist:

Because her natural lashes grow fairly straight, taking the longest extensions all the way to the outer corner could make the set feel disconnected from her natural lash direction. And with her slightly hooded eye shape, too much weight at the very outer corner could actually work against the lifted effect she wanted.

So instead, I went with a soft kitten/open-eye map, a C curl, and more density to create the drama she loves—without relying on excessive outer-corner length.

My priorities for her were:

Lift > softness > density > length.

And this is why customized lash extensions matter.

Two people can have the exact same eye shape and still need completely different lash maps because their natural lash direction, density, length, bone structure and personal style all come into play.

The goal isn’t to give you the trendiest lash map.

It’s to figure out what makes YOUR eyes look the most beautiful. 🤍

Save this for your next lash appointment if you’ve ever wondered why your lash artist might recommend a different style than the one you walked in asking for.

And send this to your friend who always asks for a cat eye. 😂

Can I just say one of the things that makes my job something I never get tired of is how every client comes in wanting something a little different.

I love learning about your beauty history, lifestyle, and requests, and then being able to customize each treatment to suit your unique features. Just figuring out what will make you feel the most confident makes every day exciting!

It’s equal parts beauty, creativity, and catching up with clients like we’re already friends 🤍

Thank you for letting me do what I genuinely love every single day. 🫶🏼

Clocked in or clocked out? It’s honestly so hard to say...

Some days it’s lashes, brows, emails, content, cleaning the studio, answering messages, ordering supplies… other days it’s coffee, errands, Remy cuddles and pretending I’m actually off the clock.

Running FBF has taught me that building a business isn’t always (or usually) the glamorous parts you see online. It’s early mornings, the behind-the-scenes no one’s going to catch, the million tiny decisions, and all the little special moments in between.

The lines between work and life get a little blurry but I’m grateful for every part that comes with creating a business + space I genuinely love + want to share 🤍

I can’t even think of trading the chaotic moments for all the days I get to step back and realize “wait, I actually built this” 🥹✨

Client reactions will neverrrr get old to me 🥹🤍

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good before + after but my favourite part of every appointment is always this moment.

Handing over the mirror, a little pause as you look into the mirror, the smile that appears and the “wait those are my lashes?!”

The moment you realize they don’t need mascara, an eyelash curler, or a complicated routine to feel a little more put together every day ✨

If you’ve ever looked at our booking menu and thought…

“Wait… what’s actually the difference?” 🤔

The biggest difference isn’t just the final look—it’s how the lashes are lifted.

✨ Traditional Lash Lift
The lift is created further up the lash, so the middle of the hair is what’s primarily processed to create the curl. The lashes should have a decent amount of length and health for a more substantial result.

✨ Korean Lash Lift
The lift begins right at the root, allowing the entire lash to be repositioned from root to tip. The result? Lashes that appear naturally longer while still looking soft and healthy. All lash types will have a gorgeous result.

Neither technique is “better”—they simply create different results. We’ll always recommend the one that best suits your natural lashes and the look you’re hoping to achieve. 🤍

Save this for your next appointment (or send it to the friend who’s still deciding between the two 😉).

Sometimes the best part of your appointment isn’t just leaving with beautiful brows or lashes...

It’s having an hour where your phone stays in your bag, the world slows down, and someone else takes care of you for a change. ☁️

Faces by Fair was created to feel like that little pause in your week. Soft lighting, calming scents, quiet conversations (or none at all), and intentional beauty that fits seamlessly into your life.

Take a little glimpse inside our cozy corner of Midtown Toronto. 🤍

Ok hear me out: I don’t think most of us wear mascara because we love it…

We put it on because we’ve convinced ourselves we don’t look awake without it.

Think about your mornings. You curl your lashes, add mascara, and by the afternoon it’s already transferred to your under eye area, the curl went back to being straight, and tomorrow you get to do it all over again.

That’s exactly why so many of my clients have been switching to Korean lash lifts lately 🤍

All they want is to just wake up, look in the mirror and think “Ok great, I already look awake!” and that’s exactly what a Korean lash lift does.

If you’ve been wondering whether this lash treatment will suit you, ask away! I could genuinely talk about it all day long 😊
