Watching my mother be seen, really seen, gave me the warmest feeling inside . She has spent a lifetime showing up for everyone else, quietly and without applause. Yesterday, the room was hers.

The woman who made me, the woman I’m becoming, and my girls watching it all unfold. It was heart-warming and adorable.

This is what it means to honour where you come from. Not just with words, but with presence, with intention, with love that shows up and says you matter enough to be celebrated.

Yesterday I got my mom ready for her first photoshoot. 🤍

She came in anxious, hadn’t slept well and I watched her transform right in front of me. Not just on the outside, but something shifted on the inside too.

This woman is the backbone of our family. She poured everything she had into us, and taught me more than she’ll ever know.

Do I see the gaps? Yes. But I’ve learned to hold compassion for the fact that she was just a girl, figuring out life one day at a time… doing the best she could with what she had.

Witnessing her in her moment? That was everything and a reminder that she has BEEN that Girl!

There’s a balance to this parenting thing.

You set the boundaries. You create the safety. You make it clear you’re not one of their little friends. And then moments like this happen and it all makes sense.

Being included in this moment wasn’t something I took lightly. It meant they trusted us to be there. That’s not by accident, that’s years of showing up in the right ways.

Her dad had his camera. I had mine. We didn’t miss a thing.

I spent so much time trying to instill respect, privacy, and healthy boundaries. Turns out I was really good at it…

Too good.

Because now I have to actually give them those things and it is BACKFIRING on me in real time. Giving them space like a respectful mom while internally SCREAMING to be involved in every single detail 😭

I’m still finding a way to document everything because she’ll thank me later.
