A lot of tape placement problems start before the tape even touches the eyelid. 👀

One of the most overlooked parts of Optifold technique is the mirror setup. 🪞

If you apply eyelid tape while looking straight into a wall mirror, the eyelid skin can look more compressed than it actually is. That means the placement may look fine in the moment, but once you blink, sleep, wake up puffy, or move through normal daily facial expressions, the crease can shift or collapse.

A lot of people think eyelid crease exercises “do nothing,” but the timing matters.

The exercises are not supposed to magically create a crease on their own. They are most useful when your eyelid has already been guided into a better crease position, especially right after tape removal.

That’s what David meant when he said looking up was a game changer.

After removing the tape, he would gently look upward for a short moment so the newly formed crease could settle in the right direction instead of immediately falling back into its old pattern.

This matters because most people do the opposite without realizing it.

They remove the tape, look down at their phone, check messages, scroll, wash up, or start getting ready while their gaze is pointed downward. But when your eyelid crease is still developing, that downward gaze can work against the crease, especially in the morning.

Morning eyelids are often puffier, softer, or less responsive, especially after poor sleep or an incomplete night of rest. During that window, looking down can make the eyelid skin fold forward and weigh against the new crease instead of helping it settle upward.

So the exercise is not about forcing your eyelid. It’s about giving the crease a quick “set” while the eyelid is still freshly positioned.

When eyelid crease exercises can help most:

✨ Before taking photos or going out
✨ After washing your face, if the crease softens
✨ On puffy mornings or after poor sleep
✨ During the early training stage, when your eyelid is still learning the new fold pattern
