Had the chance to get elbows deep in new Shades ALK (Alkaline Demi) line 🔥

This client came in wanting stripy, color-blocked red highlights, but previously ended up with a much more solid, heavily highlighted look…. plus some breakage 😬

We talked about going back to her natural brown, but she loved the red… just not how intense and solid it felt.

So instead of reaching for permanent color, I chose Shades ALK 👇

✨ WHY:
• adds rich tone without heavy commitment
• helps maintain hair health
• gives a softer, more natural fade
• keeps future color options open (especially important at 14!)

Permanent color over highlights doesn’t erase them, they’re still there underneath, which can lead to more breakage later if lightened again. That was something I really wanted to avoid.

Application:
I worked in vertical sections, pivoting into “pizza slice” sections in the back, alternating her natural base with custom red tones to break everything up and bring back dimension 🍕

Formula approach:
• 4N + Clear for a softer, less opaque base
• Custom blend of reds - for vibrancy without going too solid

The result:
A dimensional, wearable red that will fade out softly over ~30 washes no harsh lines, no heavy commitment ✨

Honestly… it turned out pretty darn good 😍
