Working for free is out. Getting paid is in.
Makeup is expensive, learning is expensive and your time is valuable.
The advice I was given when I started doing makeup in 2008 was to work for free, do friends and family for free, price myself really cheap, do that for about 5-10 years to gain experience and then I could raise my prices.
And I still see this advice being given today. What a load of sh….
There are way better ways to do it, and faster I might add.

Becoming Visible.
I found so much peace in this when I was a younger makeup artist, and growing my brand.
It’s not that your work sucks or you can’t do a beat, you can but you need to get your name out there.
Stop being the best kept secret.
You can be the best makeup artist around but if no one knows your name girlfriend then the books are still empty.
It’s not you, its not your work. No one ever taught you how to become V I S I B L E.

1. visibility, you can be the best Makeup Artist ever but people need to know about you! It’s unfortunately a numbers game.
2. Social Media & Visuals. What we do is all visual, so social media plays such a critical part in our work. Its 2026 babes, take it seriously.

Snatched & Lifted.
Emilys Bridal look was glamorous, and giving old Hollywood.
